This year, what have you changed in your life that will be a lasting change? I think it's easier and more reasonable to make a change and then when Jan1 rolls around, you just keep doing it (instant resolution!). Ours are:

1. Cook dinner almost every night--we were spending way too much eating out, and you can actually put a meal together in almost the same time as waiting in the line, eating in the car and then cleaning the car :)

2. Eat together as a family every night possible (except when one of us is working late or has a dr appointment)

3. Pack lunch daily, instead of grabbing fast food or (ugh) Lean Cuisine. I really hate frozen dinners and the packaging is overkill.

These are small changes, but have had huge results and we've stuck with them for almost a year, so I feel at least a little confident we can make them permanent.

For us, it was making the decision to get the boys off training wheels and onto bigger bikes. We are now riding every weekend (usually 8-10 mile runs) and loving every minute of it. Yes, one of the boys complains during the last mile or so because he is SOOOOO EXHAUSTED  , but he happily gets on his bike the next weekend.

It give us family together time (with Dad usually not home until 7:30 at night or out of town overnight on business during the week, we need that), it keeps us in shape  , and we are getting a chance to see more of upstate NY (and PA, and MD) than we would otherwise. We are now keeping the bikes in mind whenever we hit the road in the van AND when we think about vacation planning.

Rolling, rolling, rolling....

p.s. Another big thing -

Not sweating the small stuff (i.e. not worrying about Andrew's fixation on movie credits, not fighting about what is and isn't eaten on the dinner plate, not howling when all my bath bubbles/shampoo/conditioner are dumped in the tub during bath time, etc.). It has made a challenging life a little less difficult, lowered my blood pressure a little bit, and decreased the amount of arguing done in our house. All around better days and nights...
