I have only watched Susan Swedo's presentation so far, but thought many of the others looked interesting too.

I couldn't get the Q&A sessions to run, but the individual speakers loaded fine for me. After listening to Susan Swedo's presentation-under the 2006 Environmental toxicology Conference- I'm convinced Allie has PANDAS- even though the rheumatologist doesn't think so(because of low ASO titers). But, what she said is that the mark that the strep is back, usually starts with enuresus and the behavior precedes positive strep culture. That's exactly how it happened time and again w/ Allie. First she'd start wetting the bed and we'd say, Hmmm, she must be getting sick. Then the behavior would start- if we took her in for a strep test on the first couple of days, it would come up negative, but 3 or 4 days into the behaviors and the test would be positive. She also said that amoxicillan seemed to lose effectiveness- which it did for Allie and zithromax seems to work a little better than penecillan-which exactly fits Allie! Treatment is prophilactic antibiotics, which Allie is getting whether she has the dx or not...and best of all, its working.

hmmmm....living in a group home, with adult autistics and young men and women getting sick bringing their germs, strep or not, not too careful in hygiene themselves, autistic drinking eating touching...
