OK, I live in the Pacific NW, we have a bird here I can't identify. It's the size of a robin. Black with white spots all over. They fight each other! They are ground feeders. This morning there were 8 of them in the birdbath @ the same time! Fighting! Then they kept banging into the house, flying into windows.....is this a full moon thing? There must be at least 30 of them.

So now I have these strange fighting birds, plus about 50 doves, and at best count over 22 quails.

I feel like I live in an aviary!

I'm putting out cracked corn, sunflower seeds and of course still feeding the goldfinches the thistle niger. Keeps me busy at least!

My cat knows the quails stay in the brush, she's on high alert. My big dog Rags finally couldn't resist anymore & he chased a big bunch of quail last night. I love to watch them run!

All I need now is a visit from some wild turkeys!:D

Buttons....its the corn....turns into mash when gets wet,
which turns into alcohol, thus making them mean!

Just like a bunch of wild guys all liquored up standing around a watering hole...fighting!

Naturally there gonna fight!
Summers over....no mating goin on!
Thats why they're all fighting!

The smart guys jumpded down a hole to hibernate
and now wild turkeys on its way?

Next the earth will be shaking...someone...grab a beam!...Jim Beame!:D

But seriously tho...me thinks these lil darlings
are nothing more than those horrid Starlings!

I was going to ask if they were grackle birds myself. And wow, those birds all on the one tree causing it to droop that much looked comical, since it was not my tree. I have seen blackbirds in that number many times. They are bad as you can get a horrid eye disease, well horrid illiness from inhaling heir droppings. One of our firefighter's wives got it. Awful. They cut down some trees by our courthouse just so the birds would leave in fact.

Maybe they are made in China, I can't find them in my Audubon book!

They don't eat the snacks I put out. They go for bugs in the ground.

I see them here every so often, from spring on.....remember they are fairly large,at least Robin size maybe more.
