I had to take Allie to the immunologist by myself today- my other kids were at school and hub had to go pick them up...soooo
Usually when I pick her up at school- she doesn't even notice me in her mad rush (to get pat the elevator?). But today, I stepped in front of her and gave her a hug (she was trying to shove past) and told her calmly that we were going to WALK and be safe. She slowed down a bit, but seemed more excited than scared. So I got her in the van and gave her a snack to eat on the way. She never once tried to kick me in the head the whole way to the doctor. :) She did get agitated whenever we stopped at red lights and I think she was anxious because she was uncertain which doctor we were going to. But she just wammed against the back of the seat- no mommy attacks. She calmed down when I sang the 5 little ducks/cows/dogs/cats/frogs/pigs song. When we got to the office she was calm and walked right in- danced under the ceiling fan even though it wasn't on. She did not dash into the 1st exam room we came to (usually does). Followed the nurse to the proper room and sat down, paging through a magazine while we waited. But the BIG thing: We stop for a McDonalds Sundae after appointments (or the $ store-but its a 2 chaperone place). When we got to McDonalds drive thru, I was informed that their ice cream machine was broken. My first impulse was to scream that they better d*mn well go get some ice cream-NOW! But, I just left w/o getting anything, fully expecting to start getting thoroughly roughed up from the back seat. So, I told Allie we would have to go somewhere else for ice cream. NO FUSS...she was totally ok with it. We ended up stopping by another McDonald's on the way home, she got her sundae and was sooo good! I'm shocked and astounded and so happy! This has got to be because of the antibiotic.
