View Full Version : Can someone please tell me what's going on?

I have a "throbbing" sensation in the left side of my head running down from the top, behind my left eye but just barely to the left of my nose, to about my cheek. It's not pain, it's a pulsation that I can feel with every heartbeat. I feel this especially when I'm inactive, such as just sitting or lying in bed. Also, everytime I feel a pulse, my eyes move and I my vision moves out of focus for a split second.

This all started around 5 years ago. I was driving a truck and may have gotten a dose of carbon monoxide poisoning. Then again, I may not have been poisoned. This is just a theory. This may also have been brought on by simple vibration, as I didn't have trouble until I began driving. I've had MRI and CAT scans, but nothing has turned up. I don't have any other health problems. I take medication for allergys, such as atarax and hydroxizine. I'm not overweight, and my BMI is around 26.8.

Most of the time, this pulsing is tolerable. However, at times, I can't even read a book it gets so bad.

What is going on? Do I need surgery? Is this an indicator I'll be having a stroke in the future?

Thanks for your replies.

Hydroxizine is the generic form of atarax. You're taking both?
Also, I don't know what your dosage is, but according to the book I'm
looking at: changes in heart rhythm have occurred in people taking this
drug to relieve anxiety. A rare side effect at higher doses is tremors or
convulsions.

You really should talk to your doctor about this right away. I hope you
can get this taken care of soon!

Good luck!:)

I take hydroxizine HCL for food allergies. I'm allergic to corn, wheat, codfish, and citrus. I'm only mildly allergic to these, so I take only 10 mg every 2-3 days. I also take meliarate (?) for the same condition.

Have you tried eliminating the foods you are allergic to? There is a gluten sensitivity forum here on braintalk. Many of us who have problems with gluten (wheat, barley, rye and possibly oats) also have multiple food intolerances and have found wonderful relief in symptoms through dietary changes.

Not sure what meliarate is.
