Yes, yes, I know how great RDI is and everyone talking about it hysterically, as if it's the new cure for autism, but i just want to present here my alternative to the RDI system just in case anyone else is annoyed that Dr. Gutstein or anyone else would claim to have the 'answers to all your problems.'

Let me start by intoducing RDA.... the Relaxed Disability Alternative.
All you do is clear your mind, stop focusing on problems and start focusing on trivial things that entertain or relax you or your child. Some also call this the Relax in Denial Alternative, but I say, that is nonsense.

Well, that's just brilliant! Have you taken out a patent on it yet? What are the stages of this new therapy? Hmmm...Stage #1, Hakuna Matata

OMG, genius, sheer genius!

Love it.

Ok also, Dr. Gutty does not claim to have the answers to all your problems, or a cure, he claims to be able to develop the 5 core deficits of autism and forever better your child's life, that to expect him to go to college, get a great job, marry, have kids, should be the norm, that currently expectations and resources and guidance as to what to do, is dispiccably low for us parents and our kids.

Hmmm, so, doing RDA your way...I do not have to respond to the gagillon emails I got tonight, cause, laying in my bed and watching the National Geo channel, after applying neosporin to my rat again (real rat, not slang or acronym for some private part of me) is the new RDA.

Perhaps, if I get on a plane, and fly WITH the rotation of the earth and do GrimeyRDA, I will get further!

I am off! To enjoy a the Hacuna Matata song with a leisurely finger up my nose, for no particular reason!!!

Thank you oh GrimeyGuru, aka Guru of Grime, aka Your Grimeyness!

Okay just checking in to see how the therapy is going...

Today Theo and I had a good day, and I also volunteered at Carter's school... I signed up for a half hour twice a week. The way i figure it, it will take less time than that because we are out of there before school 'lets out' so it actually saves me fifteen minutes in the car circle. So really this is only a half-hour out of my week. Gatlin is home to 'watch' Theo by the time I leave, so it's good time of day. I even put make-up on today, and it's nice for dh to see me in something besides painting attire.
Anyway, when I got home Theo wanted to go 'dig' in the backyard, and wanted me to 'be by him', so I pulled up a lawn chair and watched him dig in a the dirtpile that hubby made digging out some ancient diseased shrubs. There is a 4 foot trench with a huge pile of dirt next to it, so he had plenty to play in.
Then a little bit later I was shoveling a smaller pile into the ditch, and accidentally cut a glass snake in half, and the snake went off while the cut-off half whipped around crazily. I called the boys out to see it, only Gatlin came to look, and we got into a big discussion about whether there was pain in that half, or only the other half. He said the nerves were definitely sending pain signals, even though it didn't have a brain to go to. I didn't really care the right answer at the time, I was 'relaxed' with his unusual perspective.

So, did you girls have therapy today too?

Picture me sitting here, devoid of any expression on my face. You are just trying to make me nuts aren't you.

Ok, so, what is a glass snake (what WAS a glass snake). Nevermind, I'll probably look it up and know at least 50 random facts I'll be able to quote for the rest of my life, at every opportunity I get, to anyone within earshot, that cannot escape my interesting stats on the glass snake.

Ok,

They are a legless lizard. In the genus Ophiosaurus, look rather like a snake with ears and blinking eyes. Vent area in some species will show tiny spurs, similar to a boa or python. Related to the alligator lizards, their head and body shape are reminiscent of those species, including the conical teeth and lateral fold. They are very un-snakelike when held, being firm in the body like an alligator lizard or large skink, rather than the softly supple body associated with snakes. Found in the Old and New Worlds, ranging in areas of Indonesia, southern Asia, the Near East, southeastern Europe, North Africa, and North America. Some genuses are called lateral fold lizards due to the pronounced lateral fold that runs down each side, others are legged lizards.

The fifteen Ophiosaurus species live in stony steppes and damp forests. Their common name, glass lizard or glass snake, is due to their ability, like many lizards, of dropping their tail. To 50 inches (120 cm). The adults are rather plainly colored, primarily shades of brown or green. Juveniles have more contrasting markings.

Ground dwellers, occasionally burrow under ground or litter. If captive the enclosure should provide a burrowable substrate, topped with bark slabs for hiding places, branches and rocks for climbing on and hiding under. A water bowl they can easily get in and out of is required.

Temperatures range from 70-85 F (21-29 C), with a nightly reduction of 5-10 degrees. UVB is not required but some exposure to unfiltered sunlight is beneficial.

Diet consists primarily of arthropods, with larger animals eating snails and small mammals.

The female so some species incubate their eggs, their body temperatures raised during this time by 0.3-0.4 C, similar to pythons.

Ok, got it, Glass Lizards. Very cool, can't believe you have those, wow.

Ha, ha... just kidding!
Did you get that blank look again? Hee Hee.
I never knew this was also called a glass lizard. I am going to have to look that up and see if it its the same thing. I'm sure the other half is still out there writhing around, in case I need to i-d it.

Oh wow, I just looked that up and see that I probably didn't cut him, it just flipped around so much after being uncovered that it broke itself. Wow, I feel lots better, because that kind of creeped me out that I did that. Now that's ONE less thing to feel guilt over!

OMG YOU SNOT....YES I TOTALLY GOT THAT BLANK LOOK AGAIN!!!! Oh man, set out the hook and reel me in, I totally fell for it.

Lord, you with the writhing, in case you need to i-d it yet, you are funny in such an exquisitely twisted way (meant as a compliment).

Why don't ya send the 'writhing' half to Laura on ice, her cat would love it.

this is a good 5-inch piece though, more like a half than a tail. If I had known all this stuff earlier i might have picked up the piece with the shovel and thrown it agoinst the hard patio to see if it would 'shatter'!
Here all this time I thought they were called glass snakes because of shiny skin.
