hey there,
I just wanted to post a pic of what my RSD looks like. Its not gross pic but an abnormal one that you prob wont see again!! I was in myrtle beach SC visiting my bro on vaca that i desperatly needed adn walked out on the beach for the first time in years.. I wasnt gonna let the pain ruin this for me and i got a pic of my foot steps in the sand, well ok.. a foot step in a 1/2!! Its a unique pic and my parents finally understood from this pic how much it really is messed up!!
Thanks guys.. let me know what you think or if you have pics too!!

Omg, thank you so much for posting this picture! That is exactly how I walk! So far, the only evidence I've had is the worn pattern on the bottom of my socks. It's obvious which sock goes on my right foot because the heel is the only worn out part. I have a question for you if you don't mind. Since RSD affects your right foot as well, are you able to drive a vehicle? I only ask because it's much too painful for me, but people treat me as though I just don't want to drive.

Hi Jennybean,
You have it in your right foot too!! I havent met anyone that has a foot like mine, and i hear ya about the pattern on the socks.. when i pull them out of my dresser or the dryer, i know what one goes on that foot, just by the heal stain..lol Thats too much that you know exactly what i deal with!! How about only buying one freekin sneaker or shoe!! no one will sell one, and i refuse to pay 60$ for one sneaker!! What do you wear on your bad foot?? I have to wear a orth boot that has 2 velcro things over the top of my footand it has to have a flat sole too, bc my foot is frozen in place.
In regards to your question about driving, yes i am able to drive, I usually drive with my Left foot, but on days that my right isnt that bad i use the right one to push on the gas, i push at the knee, bc i dont have the up and down motion in my ankle so i have to sit alittle closer to the stearing wheel, so i lift on and off the gas with my knee and use my left foot for the brake. it takes some getting use to using your left for the brake, but i am a pro at it now. my sister tried it once and almost gave all of us whiplash..lol. practice helps lot and i wasnt willing to let RSD take my driving awayfrom me... yet...
It was painfull to me too and still is, but when i wear my boot on my right foot, it takes alot of the pain from being on the pedal off alot!! I use the part of the boot that doesnt touch anyof my foot, (like the inside of the boot, bc the rest is in the air, so it doesnt touch the boot) and use that side to press on the brake so the only thing i really feel is the boot being pressed on and its not as bad as using the side of the foot!! I have other pics of my foot (acutal pics to show you what mine looks like ad how i wear my boot!! ) if you want to see adn if its anything like you have!!
Keep in touch!! im glad i finnaly have some one to talk to and knows how it is to have a crooked foot!!!

Amber,
Only being able to wear one shoe is quite the annoyance. I, too, wear an ortho boot! My mom told me about a shoe store near us that bought and sold mismatched shoes. Unfortunately, it went out of business years ago. As for driving, I am completey incapable. If I try using the foot with the boot, I can't feel anything outside of the boot because it's so thick. I tried using my left foot and ended up in a ditch! So I simply have to rely on others for transportation which is not something I'm willing to accept lightly. I'm use to being so independent! It's been quite a struggle. I'm so glad to have finally found someone who can relate. Please share pictures, you never know who else might be a "righty" or know someone who is! :)

My friend recently had a pond and a beach put in at her country home and one day when we were walking out into the water she stopped and made comment on how funny my footsteps looked in the sand. We laughed for awhile, and she made sure to point it out to everyone who was there that day, but i had forgotten about it and this made me remember!!!
Mine is in my left foot, but the shape is almost exactly identical haha!

I get my shoes in the kids dept too!! and its also good because they are alot cheaper then the "adult" ones!!! And they are the same exact except smaller!! i love it. I have tried sooo many times to either get 2 left shoes and put the 2 righty's in the other box and then also to try and buy just the display modles.... nope.. not gonna happen!! grrr..
What kind of clogs are they?? I love them too, but cant find any that really even out with the same as my ortho boot. bc i dont want to wobble even more when i have 2 different heighths shoes on.. ya know??
Post some pics of you foot too!! i just cant get over that there are more of me and my foot prints out there!!!
Hope your week is good!!

That I was the only adult that shopped for shoes in the childrens department... lol... My feet or one foot isn't like ya'lls but I just had to comment on where you buy your shoes. The only problem I have with shopping for shoes in the childrens department is that it can be quite difficult at times to locate good sneakers that do not have ballerinas or snow white or cinderella or tinker bell or fairies or even blinking lights for that matter... Just to find a pair that is simple white isn't always an easy thing to do...I wear a 3 and 1/2, how about you all?
Love to all, Marilyn

I understand the dilema of choosing between cinderella and the blinking lights or even hello kitty.lol
I wear a size 5 in kids. What is even bad is that i can fit in to my little bros sneaker!! hes only 10 and i can wear his..lmao. (18 years difference but can steal his sneaks!! lol) or at least one of them!! haha

Haha, i can sometimes fit into a 6 or 7 in women's shoes, but for the most part i just buy kids shoes cuz they're sooooooooooooo much cheaper. I got a pair of light pink glittery nike shox for 60 dollars, compared to the 114 i would had had to pay for adult sizes. And i couldnt have gotten glittery pink ones in the adult section!!! I totally understand not wanting to wear hello kitty or barbie, luckily for me ive been able to find some good shoes lately haha.
As for the clogs, i just recently bought this pair, but you can get almost the same things at target or shopko for about 12 dollars. They dont exactly feel as good as tennis shoes, but they come off and on very easily, which is key for me haha! They probably wont be able to even out the wobble very well, but ive seen some clogs at boston store that are a little bit taller and sorta have more of a wedge heel, and that might be able to even it out better, just a thought.

Dear RSD Angel and RSD friends,
I am sitting here laughing at all of your comments about how we walk. I cracked up when I saw this picture and I am very impressed that you are able to somewhat walk on the sand. How does it feel? Is it easier to walk on than cement. I have found grass much easier to walk on too with my crutches. I laughed when someone wrote about the socks out of the dryer because I do the same thing too [and I have a bad right foot too]. I can tell which sock goes on the left foot and which goes on the right foot because I walk differently. You guys are so funny and crack me up. I thank you for the laughter because for me laughter and prayers go hand in hand!
Take care,
Kathy d.

Hi kathyd,
Glad i could make you laugh!!! I, like you need to laugh to get through the day!! and thats the only way i have gotten this far!! that and a strong family!
Walking on sand was... ehh.. ok.. yes it hurt like H*** but i wasnt gonna let that stop me, bc i will prob never will be able to do it agin, or be at the beach again!! the wet sand near the shore break was AWESOME to walk in.. almost soft.. didnt hurt like cement does!! thats why i was bare foot! but when i got off the compact sand and into the dry stuff it was horrible.. you had no control on how to plant the bad foot.. you konw what i mean.. you know that if its hard you know it wont roll on you, but in the sand its soo unpredictable. But loved every min of it!!
I love the sock deal too!! im just glad that im not the only one out there that has these come out of the dryer looking like this..lol. and have you ever put the good foot sock on the bad foot... it doesnt fit! lol (at least with mine..lol)
what do you do for shoes or sneak;s?? I am soo amazed that there is so many of us righties , and lefties out here that have the same foot as i do. I ahve been on this board and BT2 and never really knew that we were all out here!!
I am gonna post more pics of my foot and what i wear on my bad foot.. someone asked so it is easier to put apic up. But I have been battleing bad vertigo spells so.... havnt had a chance yet! But will soon!! Do you have pics to share??
OK.. gotta go.. comp is not doing anything good for the vertigo.. talk to you later!!
Hugs and laughs!

Hi Amber, I too have RSd in my foot, but mine is in my left foot. I could not wear a shoe for over 4 years and so I had to wear the ugly ortho boot. Gosh I hated that thing but it was the only thing I could put on my foot, and although it hurt like crazy it wsn't as bad as an enclosed show.
I always told my friends that i was going to open a shoe store that sold only one shoe, because like you, I have many right foot shoes that are new..LOL Too bad I wear a big size 10 or 11.. Since the RSD I have had to buy 11's. maybe we need to start a shoe exchange among RSD'ers..LOL
I hope you all have a peaceful evening.

Ouch.
I am wondering what all of you have tried to do to get rid of the RSD (CRPS).
I am an implanter and would love to hear about if/when/what level/what company/doctor/etc you have tried as far as SCS. Has anyone tried Prialt.
I am interested in seeing if Prialt can be tried as an outpatient without having to put a pump inside the body to see if the drug works. Also, is this the well-adjusted to RSD thread? Many of my patients just do not want to accept the RSD or cannot come to grips with it. I use a variety of clinical psychologists to help them understand the nature of this chronic pain syndrome and to try and get them benefit more than my drugs, wires, and needles. Wa there a turning point for all of you when the diagnosis just kind of clicked in and you were like- I guess this is now me? Thanks in advance.
