Normally I post on the aneurysm site but I am wondering if anyone can help me. I had a ruptured aneurysm in March, developed hydrocephalus afterward and had a shunt placed in mid- April. I had to have it adjusted 2 times after, because it was not draining properly. I have been having increased headaches on the right, many times in back of my right eyebrow and around my shunt. I can touch around my shunt and feel the actual places where my head hurts. It doesn't hurt when I get up in the morning but gets more painful during the day. Could it be draining too much? Is it common for it to hurt around the shunt? My neurosurgeon had said something about scar tissue and the scalp adjusting to having a foreign body in it. Would appreciate any advice. Rose

Hi and welcome,
If you feel better laying down and sleeping for a few hours or more, and it gets worse through the day, you might be over draining and should call the neurosurgeon (NS) to adjust your shunt.
IMO
Call your NS Nurse and talk about going in ASAP, my sons NS had residents come to the ER and adjust his shunt, ( remember you need an x-ray after the shunt is adjusted to check it moved correctly )due to no available appointments, also to get to the NS sooner we have asked to be called for any cancellations.
Hope this helps a bit and again,
Welcome
Deborah

Thanks, I will call her. In the past, I've had to go to the ER and have a ct scan, long wait.
