Is there a set amount for mileage reimbursement when the employer's comp insurance carrier says you have to go for an independent medical exam?

I'm in Illinois, and they sent me a check for "travel allowance for IME" but when I divide the miles by the amount sent, it only comes out to about 30 cents per mile.

Isn't the going mileage reimbursement rate something like 48.5 cents per mile for stuff?????

FYI to everyone -

Worker's compensation attorney says the rate for mileage IS 48.5 cents per mile, plus any tolls and parking charges.

So now instead of me asking you guys for help, perhaps my response here to my own post will help out someone else.

here in NY I think its 41.5 cents or 47.5 cents per mile, I cant remember.

They have to pay your mileage for every dr visit that pertains to your w/c injury.

not just the IME so keep that in mind.

Keep track of all your appts and mileage, fill out the approrite forms, make copies and save yours, give one to your lawyer and also another copy for the employers w/c carrier. good for all 3 of u to have a copy as the insurance company seems to "lose" them alot, :p

W/C didnt have in network Dr's near my home.SO they HAD to provide me transportation.I suffer from back problems.Driving that distance wasn't possible. If you must travel far.Look into getting driven.y driver (same for yrs)drove me,waited with me and drove me home. They were billing $1.75 a mile. The transportation company made more than anyone in my case.

What if your Insurance company is not providing you with mileage checks? What is your Lawyer is sitting on his hand while you are going broke? We can send in the forms but the Insurance companies sure like to sit back and not pay us!

you can change attys at any time.
if you believe your atty is not abiding by the legal code of ethics you can file a complaint with the state bar.
