Hi everyone. You probably don't remember me because I haven't been on this forum since it has changed, but I was "Celiacmom" on the other one. My youngest son has HFA and Celiac disease and he's now 7. My oldest is 14 and has been diagnosed with ADHD.
Life has really caught up with me and I haven't posted in quite some time. I was a SAHM before, but now I am working part time as a Newborn Hearing Screener at a large local hospital. It's been great knowing that I can take part in the early identification and intervention of hearing loss. Too bad there isn't yet a test to quickly identify newborns who are at a high risk of autism. Hopefully someday it will be developed and be as quick and efficient as the hearing screens I perform.
Anyway, I am going to try and frequent here more often. Things are getting a little hairy with my son and his social skills lately. He's now in 2nd grade and new problems have presented themselves such as wearing out his welcome at the neighbor's home and dealing with classmates setting him up to get him into trouble due to his naiivity. This is something we have never dealt with before, and unfortunately his teacher is not very understanding.
I would love to hear your stories about bullying kids and suggestions on how to handle these situations. I have to go, but I'll post later in greater detail about the incidents at school.
Glad to be back on the forum!;) Take care.
Amy
