Hi guys

It was the 1 year anniversary of my ETV surgery yesterday :) I am surprised I didn't think about it at the time as I am still in (justified) pessimistic/cautious optimism mode, even though my NS said he doesn't expect my ETV to fail at all now. I am also nervous because I move into university accommodation tomorrow and it is my first time away from home without my parents for more than a week, and also with non-family members providing help with daily living tasks. But I have registered with the student medical practice, uni is actually near the hospital which I can access anytime, and furthermore the girl in the room opposite me also has hydrocephalus (though she is shunted) so I do have a good support system, and I can go home for weekends etc if I want. I may not post much for a while as it is fresher's week (party time :D ) and then I will have lectures and things. I will have internet access though so I will try and check in and see how everyone is doing :) Thanks for all your support and I will keep you updated as I start uni (the biggest frustration is who helps me get to bed at night, at a time I want, but that's a whole 'nother thread :( lol)

Good luck. Enjoy yourself. For me, university life was some of the best times of my life. It was fun but also exciting to be around so much thought provocing discussions and people.

I was also going to ask you if you might PM me or write on here a little bit about how your ETV went for you initally. My NS is now thinking of doing an LP or ETV.

Lauren

You should sent swift an IM. She is in the UK also and just graduated from uni for occupational therapy. I know she had some bumps in the road with getting help as well.

Good luck, it will be okay,
Suzie
