are there any restrictions on drivers licenses when you have type 1 diabetes? i saw on the application form for renewal it asks if you use insulin. i dont, but what happens if you say yes? ll

Good question! Perhaps this is so nobody would be considered drunk if they didn't take their insulin & went into a state very similiar to acting intoxicated? (I'm thinking there would be a symbol of some kind on the person's drivers license)

I've never noticed this before on an application, next time I renew I will look for it though. And each state has different laws.

It was the worst thing I ever did was to tell DMV that I had type Two diabetes because now every year or so my doctor has to fill out a special
form that says I am o.k. to drive.I know this going to be a problem in 15-20
years as my feet problems progress. The doc says it will and it won't go away.
Now big brother has his nose in my medical records because I was honest .
If I had to do it over again I would't have never mention this.

Well I didn't give up driving because of my diabetes, however I did stop because of my myoclonus (body jerks). I keep my license renewed though.

Reason for all these laws is to protect your own self-think about it! What if you caused an accident & your ins refused to pay cause you had LIED when getting your license? You'd be in a big mess then right?
