Cry Tears

Each year, about mid March, the Swallows arrive.
They nest every time in a box I have hung up against the house just off our back patio.
I've enjoyed watching them build a nest inside the box, fly around for hours, then sit on the 4 eggs.
They hatch and within few weeks are soon ready to fly away, till next year!
The last picture shows the fat faced babies....way too cute!
Blessings, cheryl

crytears that little bird sticking its head out is the cutest thing! Many thanks for showing us the pictures. This is the kind of birds that build under the docks up at the lake. They have the smallest mud like nests and it always amazes me that the babies don't fall out into the water.

I stood and watched my hummingbirds forever this morning. There were at least 5 out now and they were doing all kinds of dives, and staying so close to each other as they rose higher and higher in the sky. Kinda like a competition! Then all at once there would be 3 going around and around. I kept trying to see if they were all the same sex but could not tell. We left to go pick up grandson then get groceries. They were still at it when we returned. I could not believe how much energy they have. Since it has been so warm I must replace that sugar water with fresh! i sometimes think it has fermented when I do empty it. I would not think the hummers were mating this late in the season as they usually leave by secxond week in October. It would not give the babies enough time to grow and be strong and if all the pictures with the dates, etc. are correct, it would take at least 24 days for them to hatch out and leave a nest. So I wonder if they just like keeping others away from their favorite other little bird friend, lol. It sure is fun to watch in any case. The red birds, blue birds, doves, etc. do ot put on such a show. Even my squirrels are not that active.

Thanks again for keeping us in pictures. They are really appreciated!

Too cute! Thanks for sharing the pics! They nest here under the large eaves, unfortunately it's right over most of the patio furniture! And my cat Sissy climbs the posts to try to grab a meal......anyone want to come over & install the cedar blocks that have been wasting away for years? Guess the droppings just don't bother some people! Cleaning this stuff from the railings, etc. takes a pressure washer & putty knife!
