Hi everyone, in reading a lot of info on here it seems like bad headaches were present prior to a rupture.
I'm wondering if anyone else had anything similar to what my Dad experienced: he didn't have headaches prior to although he was taking alot of pain medication for what they thought was arthritis pain at the time so perhaps that warded off the headache.
Many months ago he hit his head pretty hard and then shortly after that he started to get a really sore/stiff neck, this went on for many months and at first he thought it was just jammed.
He then started to get pain in his shoulders and hips and they thought perhaps it was arthritis as it seemed to feel better when he was moving and when he sat for too long he seized up this went on for quite a few months.
He also started sweating a lot during this time and my Dad is not a person that sweats much. (The sweating has been continuing since his surgery as well).
I'm just wondering if anyone else had anything similar to this prior to their rupture?
The night my Dad had his rupture he told my mom that his neck and shoulders felt better and he could move them freely and that there was an odd sensation/pain shooting down his arms - not an hour after this the rupture happened.
Did anyone else ever have anything similar to this prior to a rupture?
Thanks for any input you can provide, I know it won't change what happened but it might help me understand and also help others know what to watch for.
thanks very much:)

Hi Jungle,
Like your dad, I didn't have headaches prior to my rupture. I really didn't have any symptoms that I would say were a warning. I had fallen and hit my head/nose about 8 months prior but my doctor told me he didn't think that had contributed to the annie or the rupture. When my rupture happened, I had had a "normal" Saturday- cleaning, cooking, etc. and sat down to dinner and was hit with the thunderclap headache that so many describe. I remember feeling like something was wrong but didn't know what. I had to lay down and I got very, very cold to the point that I held a hair dryer under the covers. I am very fortunate because I didn't go to the hospital immediately. I went to my regular MD on the Monday after and he felt certain what I described was an aneurysm and he pushed for the tests to find it (God bless him). They found it the following Thursday and immediately admitted me to the hospital. I will keep your dad in my prayers.

Dear JungleQueen,
I haven't heard of anyone having those symptoms prior to a rupture. I had an episode where I blacked out about 1 1/2 years before I had my (unruptured) aneurysm clipped. They didn't find anything wrong with me at that time, and the doctors claimed that the incident wasn't related to my aneurysm...who knows though! I wish you the best!

Hi Jungle! I had episodes where I would "flush" on my chest and face. I would be standing there talking to someone and then I would turn beat red. I thought I was just getting shy in my old age or was just practicing for menopause, but I went to my PCP and told him, but he just blew it off. My Neuro doctor told me it was related and had to do with my blood pressure. I wish you all the best.

My only symptom was dizziness - ONCE. Never has happened again. The neurosurgeon and I decided it was a sign of divine intervention. Altho I will say that my sinus headaches have decreased alot!

I had some back pain and stomach ache about a week before my aneurysm ruptured, but I'm not sure if this was related or not. The rupture came without any warning at all as thunderclap headache, vomiting and collapse. I was taken to the ED by ambulance straight away, transfered to the neuro hospital the same day and had the aneurysm coiled the following morning.

So no real warning signs at all.

Hi,
The week before my rupture I had almost constant sinus headaches, I did have a cold so I figured that was the cause. I was taking lots of cold medications all that week to relieve the sinus pressure and they didn't help much. I was taking stuff I wasen't supposed to take like Nyquill and Sudafed to relieve it, I was desperate cause I had to go to work, we were overwhelmed with work that week and I couldn't stay home. The cold remidies I was taking made my blood pressure elevate and the stress at work I really think contributed to my rupture, plus the day I ruptured I was driving in a bad snow storm, not one of my favorite things to do,
