Hi there, has anyone had any issues with increased sweating after having a rupture and clipping surgery? My Dad seems to be sweating a lot and he doesn't ever have a fever with it and isn't doing anything to bring about the sweating, sometimes he is just laying in bed or sitting in a chair, other times it is when he has his occupational therpay session.
Is this part of the blood from the rupture reabsorbing into the body? Or is it a side effect of what his body has been through?
Any insight anyone has that they can share is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.:)

Is he on any meds? The meds I take cause me to sweat a lot.

*bunch God bless your Dad and family!! Welcome to the site!! Yes sweetie, I have!! :p I am a woman and was already in menopuse, but made it worst. I cannot take the heat at all now at all now and I use to be a firefighter???? :( It is getting a little better as far as the sweats though, since my rupture 2 years ago.
Sometimes it can throw our hormones out of wack?? Even men have hormones, I had to get my thyroid checked, couldn't hurt to have his checked?? It is just a blood test, common to have a bit of thyroid problems for a while after a rupture? Mine was fine but, I am on a lot of medications.
I still sweat when ever I get moving around a lot and get fatigued easily!!
I had a bleed and my Dr. told me it could take up to 2 years for the brain to absorb the blood. Everyone is different, it depends on how much blood got out, where the rupture is...
You should talk to his Dr. about what all he had done and what they think? It is really hard for them to know, the brain takes a long time to heal!! It is important for him to get good "REM" sleep, stay hydrated well with water or juices, esp. if he is sweating so much. Try to stay away from caffien and cola's. Fruits, greens and grains are good for him! Is he on a special diet??

 When was his rupture?? Where is it located? I assume they had to open up his head for the surgery? Is he on med's?? What is his current condition, both physically and mentally? What kind of therapy are they doing?? Sorry about all the questions but, it will help us understand and answer questions. ;)

I was lucky, they did my surgeries through my leg artery. I had a stent and coils put in on the left side by my optical artery.
You should make a list of questions for when he goes to appointments, take notes as the Dr. goes along. Hard to remember everything! Everytime you think of something write it down, I know hubby, Sis and I had lots of questions! :p I assume someone take him to appointments, or is he still in hosp. rehab?

I hope he has a quick recovery and I will be keeping him and your family in my prayers!! Tricia

Very good article Chris thank you. my Dad was always cold and the neuro told us it was due to damage to the temperature control section of his brain.

Thank you for the great replies.
The only meds my Dad is on right now is Tylenol for pain and DVAPP (for central diabetes incipidis which they think will correct itself and was a result of the rupture or surgery).
His rupture happened August 3rd (anterior communicating artery)while he was sleeping, my mom heard him gurgling/chocking and called 911 and did CPR he was then in a coma and they didn't know what the issue was until he woke up and wasn't moving his legs, they did a ct angio and saw the aneursym, he had clipping surgery done on August 8th.
His health/vitals are good now and he is currently in a rehabilitation center and they are just starting on Physio and Occupational therapy he is now able to move his legs but is having issues flexing his ankles.
I will ask about the thyroid check as I don't think that is something they looked into, thanks for the suggestion.
Thanks for the replies, I really appreciate all the information I've been getting and things I'm learning about.
