Ok Freinds...I'm sorry I haven't posted pics of our new pet any sooner, but I'm so not puter savey...hubby had to help me load pics.
So here's pics of our newest member here on "Wits End Farms"
His/Her name is LeRoy...neighbors grand kids found it when their dog was carrying it around in its mouth....wouldn't allow the kids to keep him.
We have the perfect habitat for LeRoy...a smaller fenced yard around a tree, even has his own shallow pond. I'll put in a few feeder fish...turtles love to dive in after them.
LeRoy also loves slugs and worms....we enternain squemish guest by feeding LeRoy wiggling worms...he ate 5 in one "sitting" one day.
Sure cuts down on the amount of food I have to make dinner guest! LoL! Eeeew! Thats sicko!
Anyway...LeRoy loves potato chunks best tho...yum!
I cut up small chunks of fruits, veggies and fresh critters too!
I need to build a rock wall around the pond and his habitat...but I need $500 worth of those graystone bricks!
OK...got good idea...everyone send me just one stone!...They're "only" $5 each...eeeek! And would "only" cost $20 to ship one! eeeeeek!
So thats too spendy...so just send me $5...that will save each person over $20! See...I'm not so dumb!
We have bazzilions or square rocks all around the forest here...but is illegal to even pick up one single rock! Need a permit to gather any!
You'd think having hundreds of volcanoes around here in the NW we'd have all the free rocks you'd want...but NO WAY!
Can get arrested, thrown in FEDERAL prison for gathering rocks on federal land (forest) eeeeek!
He's only about 8 inches long.
Enjoy! cheryl
#1 Diving into a veggie delights granny made for me!
#2 Seeking long lost mommy?!!! LeRoy is always checking the plastic turtles out.
#3 Eating what bugs him! Ewwww! Crunchy beatle bugs for after dinner snack!

Thanks for posting the pics of LeRoy! He/she needs a mate don't ya think? Want me to send you some slugs? (for people not living in the great NW slugs are something we consider a delicacy-hehe).Just a little bit of rain & they come out in force! Eat our gardens,flowers-leave their slime everywhere....I can never make myself actually kill them with a hoe or whatever......but we use beer traps, etc to lure them in & enjoy one last meal!

Hey, have hubby post a pic of a banana slug so other's will know what we have to live with!

we have slugs here too, in the great midwest:). they love hosta plant leaves.

being a gardener, i have read of a way to get rid of them. spread diatomaceous earth around your plants. it's used mostly in swimming pool filters to clean the water.

diatomaceous earth sticks to the slugs shell and sucks out the water from the slug, causing it to die of dehydration.

such is a slug's life.

you will probably have to apply it daily in a climate with a lot of rain.
