I have always had hydrocephalus, and tomorrow, we're going to see my
nsg about my son's ACM. I am convinced he has issues with the ACM,
such as inability to tolerate heat, insensitivity to cold, inability
to sense thirst, language issues, sensory issues. He also has autism,
and I am not saying I would expect surgery to cure him, but I'm
becoming very concerned about what will happen if he doesn't have it.
His herniation is 13 mm, and I know herniation size is not considered
particularly important, but what if he were in a car crash and had
whiplash? What would it do to him?? Suppose the surgery can make the
difference between needing lifelong supervision and being able to be
completely on his own some day??

I'm not stupid; it is brain surgery, and I know there are risks, but
what if it actually helps him? What are the risks? What are the
possibilities? What should I ask the nsg? I know he'll listen to me.
He has known me all my life and has always taken me seriously. Help
me figure out what to ask.

Thanks so much!

LIZARD :)
