I just started taking methylcobalamin and i think im in the honeymoon period. what is this period? when u just start taking it? im only taking 1000 mg sublingual, but sometimes i hav like 2 of those. and in the directions it says up to 3 a day. so im wonderihng if i took more would i get past this honeymoon period and down to the really crappy stuff? im starting to wonder if i should hav bought the 5 mg kind(5000 mg)?? altho i do recall on roses' site that she suggests 1000 mg(1 mg) a day.
At least 1000 mcg per day.
No one knows whether you will benefit more or faster from much larger doses. Sure can't hurt (many times the 5000 mcg has been shown safe).
I refer to the period of time within days or weeks of beginning B12 when many experience a rapid improvement in one or more symptoms. If damage has been severe, that rapid improvement can be a "honeymoon period" because symptoms can become much worse later as the body begins repairing the often more serious and intrenched problems.
Healing a wound or bone break isn't fun either, but there's no getting around it. And regardless of the problem, some people have worse symptoms than others.
