I just discovered that I had a refill for Cipro that my urologist gave me back in February. (which is probably good, because I'm having another problem exactly like what I was originally Rx-ed it for)

If I take the Cipro (it's a 2 week Rx) and then wait about a month afterwards for it to get out of my system, would the Cipro possibly draw out the spirochetes that I might possibly have in my system so that they'll show up better on a WB or a test for the co-infections??

Either way, I'm probably going to pick up the Rx tomorrow because of the possible UTI that I think I'm developing. (I prefer Macrobid for that instead tho) It never fails, all UTI's happen on fridays after the doctor's office closes, or during the night in the middle of the weekend.

I think I'm buying one of those kits that you can use to test yourself for UTI's...maybe then I can get my doctor to Rx me some Macrobid in the middle of the night during the weekend.

Hi Erin. I do not think that Cipro is usually prescribed for Lyme. Also, the doses of antibiotics used to treat Lyme are usually much higher than for other infections.

Where do you stand on seeing a Lyme doctor or starting treatment?

I dont have access to a lyme doc...I've got to make due with my regular doctor who seems willing to help me. (the infectious disease doctors I saw last month were total putz's)

Infectious disese doctors are usually not the best to see for tick-borne illnesses.

I know, but when I asked for a referral to a lyme knowledgable doctor, that's what my regular doctor sent me to.

It drives me nuts that there arent any REAL lyme knowledgable doctors in Nebraska. At least in Omaha...we have nearly a half million people in this town, but there are NO lyme knowledgable doctors.
