My husband is on a permanent disability. His mother was diagnosed with lung cancer in May and started radiation/chemotherapy in June. My operation was in July. MIL had a stroke the week before my op. Hubby was going crazy with worry - should he stay with me or travel out of town to be with his mom. He stayed with me, until I was released from hospital.
But then came more news - the day after I was discharged - we heard that his mom had had a second stroke, and was steadily getting worse.
So Hubby went to her city (3 hours away by bus) and stayed 2 days until she passed away (Tuesday 7th August) Thats 2 days I had to get up in the morning, get dressed, take 5 year-old to daycare, and then walk home in pain and collapse in bed. Wake up at 5pm and go collect son from daycare, come home and find something to eat that did not require major cooking. - just heating in the m/wave.
Hubby is now back home, but the first 2 weeks at home have been VERY tough. I am in less pain than before, although I do get tired if I walk around too much. Been to the doctors and had all my staples removed.
My hearing has also been affected. My ears constantly feel like they have to be popped (like I am at a very high altitude - top of a skyscraper going down a fast elevator). I am having trouble remembering the date and days of the week. Long term memory is ok. Don't seem to be in the mood to read - all this time at home and I don't feel like reading. This is so not like me to not be reading.
I make myself get out and walk around to do chores. I am always very tired when I get home, but after my surgery, the doctor was always telling me to walk around, walk as much as you can.
The Occupational therapist came to assess me today. She says I am anxious, wouldnt you be if your hearing was disappearing. Next appointment with neurosurgeon is October 2nd, will have another CT scan to assess my brain.
Ciao for now
