Matthew's Mom

Hi All,
Just wondering, about a month ago Matthew came in the room while I was on the computer saying he had to "make himself breath' I asked if he had trouble breathing and he said no just that his diaghram wasn't working, he had to make it work.
I had noticed him scratching once in awhile on his back, but he didn't complain of anything and I didn't ask. Well when he complained about the breathing I noticed his face broken out and I said let me look at your back and it was covered with a rash, not hives and not pinpoint red rash but sorta in between.
Took him to urgent care and the doctor prescribed an acne medicine for his face and a med for allergy for his back. I insisted on a strep test even though he didn't complain of sore throat. The doctor didn't want to do it until I mentioned PANDA's. The quick test came out negative as did the longer three day test.
I told the doctor the face and back broke out the same day so I didn't understand the need for the acne med, he said it was two seperate issues going on.
Needless to say I never filled either presciption. For one the acne one has very serious side effects, as it penetrates into the skin and it said can cause seizures and in rare cases death.
The other med for the allergy also I was not comfortable with, as Matthew is so sensitive to so many meds.
Within a couple of days both the face and back cleared almost completely. But ever since he still scatches and has a very minor tiny red rash, hardly noticible on his back.
I did not switch any laundry soap or any other product in the house.
I have since bought the fragrance free laundry soap.
I was wondering if this could still be a strep type thing that maybe did not show up on the throat culture. Should I ask his pediatrician for a different test?
Thanks,
Pam
