My wife is back from a 7 week sojourn to the Johns Hopkins Hospital pain unit on Meyer 6. The results are nothing short of miraculous. Her medications were adjusted and tweaked with compassionate tapers, and, while her pain levels may be temporarily slightly elevated, she is no longer cognitively impaired.

Coming home from Baltimore we connected through La Guardia on a day made busier by stormy weather earlier in the day. My wife used wheel chairs in the terminal buildings but needed nothing stronger than Tylenol to get through it all. Once home we walked our 2 Airedale Terriers and she puttered a bit in her garden. All of this would have previously been unthinkable on a travel day.

Lest this be written off as someone with a low dosage of pain and other meds; she came through with 17 listed medications on her customs form. Due to an earlier taper she was 'only' on 150 mcg DuraGesic patches, with Oxy IR for breakthrough.

Thanks to Dr. Triesman, Mary Nossel, Dannelle and the many others who comprise the Meyer 6 team.

Where does the line start to sign up? Please give us more info. I don't suppose Medicare would pay for this? What are/were her pain generators?

Congratulations to your wife!!!!

Glad to hear your wife has been able to make such an improvement. It will be interesting to see how she is doing in 3 months; does she still have limited pain or has her pain climbed back up. 17 Meds:eek: I can see why she was cognitively impaired and why it seems so miraculous to have her off the meds. Please give us up dates on how she is doing every month or so.
