:)
i thought i would put this joke here, too, because it is so cute...and i have NOTHING against cats:D!

A newly discovered chapter in the Book of Genesis has provided the answer to "the REAL purpose for the creation of pets"

Adam and Eve said, "Lord, when we were in the garden, you walked with us every day. Now we do not see you any more. We are lonesome here, and it is difficult for us to remember how much you love us."

And God said, I will create a companion for you that will be with you and who will be a reflection of my love for you, so that you will love Me even when you cannot see Me. Regardless of how selfish or childish or unlovable you may be, this new companion will accept you as you are and will love you as I do, in spite of yourselves."

And God created a new animal to be a companion for Adam and Eve.
And it was a good animal.
And God was pleased.

And the new animal was pleased to be with Adam and Eve and he wagged his tail.
And Adam said, "Lord, I have already named all the animals in the Kingdom and I cannot think of a name for this new animal."

And God said, "I have created this new animal to be a reflection of my love for you, his name will be a reflection of my own name, and you will call him DOG."

And Dog lived with Adam and Eve and was a companion to them and loved them.

And they were comforted.

And God was pleased.

And Dog was content and wagged his tail.

After a while, it came to pass that an angel came to the Lord and said, "Lord, Adam and Eve have become filled with pride. They strut and preen like peacocks and they believe they are worthy of adoration. Dog has indeed taught them that they are loved, but perhaps too well."

And God said, I will create for them a companion who will be with them and who will see them as they are. The companion will remind them of their limitations, so they will know that they are not always entitled to adoration."

And God created CAT to be a companion to Adam and Eve.

And Cat would not obey them. And when Adam and Eve gazed into Cat's eyes, they were reminded that they were not the supreme beings.

And Adam and Eve learned humility.

And they were greatly improved.

And God was pleased

And Dog was happy.

And Cat didn't give a sh*t one way or the other.

ahhh...a tiger cat.

i have always loved cats. their beauty. their grace. but, they are aloof creatures. they take what you give them and maintain their distance.

so, i go with slobbery, unconditional love from my dogs. but, if the right cat just happens to cross my path.....

I've shared my life with alot of different cats. Siamese,Blue Russian,Persian, black cats, orange tabbies,calicos......but my current cat,Sissy, is like no other cat I've ever had. She hunts 24/7! I've given up on getting her to wear any collar (warning bells for the critters she kills).

The most special cat ever was the Blue Russian mix called Jake,I had him for about 12 yrs. He used to follow me on walks along the dike. He was the most friendly & curious cat I ever knew. It was 6 mos after he disappeared when I finally decided to adopt a kitten-Sissy. She had a twin I called Sassy, only way I could tell them apart was the different colored collars! Sassy went away in the middle of the night when about 6 mos old. (I keep a cat window open all the time,no litter box!). Sissy has somehow managed to remove any collar I try since then!

All my life I was strictly a cat lover. I collected alot of cat stuff over the years. I'd had dogs around as a child but they were never in the house or a part of the family. I'd always wanted a Basset Hound. So when I was grown & had 2 small boys I bought a Bassett. He refused to stay home, followed kids to school, followed the mailman, etc. So my landlord let me build a 6' cedar fence......the dog dug out under the fence! I decided to give him to a couple in the country with 3 Bassett's of their own. He lasted a few days-got into rat poison in the orchard! I was so hurt by this I figured no more dogs for me!

Then I began watching dog shows a few years ago. And I moved to where I've now lived 9 yrs & met my first Bouvier de Flanders! She was my dog from the start, very protective of me,well behaved & easy on leash walks. She died of cancer 5 yrs ago & I was heartbroken......I've been a dog lover ever since!

Now live with 2 dogs & Sissy. If I could afford it I'd rescue more dogs from the shelter! And I'm a huge fan of Cesar Millan's dog shows on National Geographic,he's amazing & has taught me so much about how a dogs mind works.

Anytime I want to feel better I can just turn the TV to any dog show!

i had a cat as a child. her name was calico, even though she was not a calico cat. i don't quite remember what happened to calico, because i was so young and it was so long ago.

then my mom got a dog she named dolly. i was 19. dolly took to my boyfriend and when i married him and moved away, dolly became depressed, so my mom gave us dolly. she kept one of dolly's sons named sam. eventually, sam came to live with us for a while, too. then sam went back to my mom. dolly died from kidney failure due to diabetes.

then we got a dalmatian named pepper. not a terribly imaginative name for a dal, but my 10yr. old daughter named her. i trained pepper to "walk pretty" on the leash when we went to pick up the kids from school everyday. i also trained pepper to sit on the porch with me, without a leash. when people would walk by, she would sniff the air...lol...but, she would not go off the porch. during this time, we inherited a calico cat named cleo from my husband's uncle, who had died. nobody wanted to take her, so with my girl's prodding, we took cleo. cleo and pepper tolerated each other.

cleo and pepper died within a year of each other. i still miss pepper some days, as i was also heartbroken when we had to put her down. that is the hardest thing about having an animal, outliving them and dealing with the grief of losing them. it seems the older i get, the harder it is for me to deal with that grief.

but, after much trepidation and a lot of brainwashing from my daughter and hubby, we got a german short-haired pointer named nora. one rainy, summer day, we found a black, lab mix dog in our yard. he had a collar, was well fed. we figured he had gotten scared outside during the strom and had run away. we tried to find his owners, but were unsuccessful. so we kept him and named him nick. nick loved us from the start. nora, who was a very naughty dog, calmed down a lot when nick came. he treats her as the dominant dog. he is so eager to please and the one who gives me the slobbery kisses. nora is a little more aloof but she has come to "like" me...lol. they are both about 3 years old, so we will have them for a long time.

yes, bouviers are really loyal and nice dogs. my neighbors had siamese and persian cats. the siamese would jump up on bookshelves and sleep up there. my cat cleo was a hunter, also. birds and wild rabbits. she brought them home with her. i eventually did get her a collar with bells on it and that solved the problem.

thanks for telling me about your animals, buttons. i really enjoyed that.
