I had my surgery on the 2 and came home the next day. Well I had a weird surgery and stay. Let me tell you about my surgery. They took me back about 7 AM and before I could even get on the table they were giving me some thing to relax. Then after that I know nothing. When I came to I was in so much pain not from the cut but my neck. But my neck felt like they bent it in half. That has been my most pain. But I do remember that they said it was B9 and they took my left side of my thyroid out. Then after I was in my room one of the Dr came by and told me that mostly B9 but found some kind of cell. What kind I don't know. I was still out of it. Now this was the only biopsy taken was when I was in surgery. and it was a Frozen biopsy. Now is this a full biopsy or do I have to wait till the report comes back?
Now on my stay. I would have been better off at home the night nurse was rude and ruff. She told me that I only had my left side out and the others had all theirs out and she didn't have time for me. Boy don't I feel great. But I really didn't need her any ways took care of myself. I could get up and down with the help of DH. I am glad he was there.

Now I am not on my PM meds now. She took me off till I am done with this Dr. He is to take care of my pain for now. I think she said to go back on after 1 or 2 week after my surgery. God I wish I was on it now. I have been in so much pain. The surgery it self was a piece of cake. It is just my neck that is giving me grief.

Now that i am home I had to cook dinner the very day I got home. I had to clean the house too. It is like I had nothing done. Oh she back home so she must feel better. GGGRRRRRR.

No one has told me any thing that I might go though now that my right side is the only one left. Could any one help me here with this.
I get really hot into a sweat and my voice comes and goes.
What should I watch for? if any thing.
Would it be bad on my part to call the office and see if they can tell me more. Or wait till the 15th when I go back to see the Dr?
Thanks for any help
Deb

Hey Deb.
Glad to see you home. NOW...1. take it easy and do not worry about the house work. Not having it done is not going to hurt anything. 2. as for cooking....anyway you can call out for a meal? 3. Call your Dr. and ask. It can't hurt to ask and the chance you might find out something is good.
I hope your neck feels better. I am here if you need anything...Allie

I had a benign tumor removed years ago (appx 15) they also removed part of my thyroid when they did it. Dont think they ever told me which side it was. Like you said, the surgery was cake. And honestly, I have had no trouble at all since either. They may have to test your thyroid levels once you go back for follow up. The hot sweats sound like it could be caused by that. Your voice is probably a reaction to the tube in the throat. But if thats not better in a week or so I would call dr for sure. I was lucky as far as the thyroid levels go, mine has functioned without a problem ever since. I do now have another large growth in the same spot but my endo is watching it and as long as its not causing pain or difficulty swallowing then we will just leave it alone. Oh, and this is just me, but, I would tell who ever is making you cook that they know where the kitchen is or open the door and point the way to mcdonalds and hand hubby the car keys!!! Good luck, im sure you will be fine in just a few days.

Deb, Allie and Karen have nailed it on the head about what to do. I am glad your husband was there at the hospital. For all the grief my wife is giving me the past years I am so thankful she stayed at the hospital with me and I didn't have to count on the nursing staff. Don't be afraid to call the doctor office and ask some questions. I hope you are feeling better in a few days.

((((((((((((((Deb)))))))))))))))

I hope you are feeling much better each day.........and tell someone else to cook and clean for a few more days. Geez, how supportive? "So glad you are home from the hospital.......we need dinner, and by the way, can you do some cleaning up around here while your up????"

I'm glad it is over for you but it sounds like you got a real mean attitude Nurse. I know they are not all like Nurse Ratchet:D

DH sounds , well kinda like mine. He's good to me but what is important to me isn't always his way of thinking.

Keep the chin up and delagate til the cows come in. Glad you are home.

*hugs Julia
