Well, I got news that that Federal judge kicked my claim back down to the hearings and appeals (ALJ) level yet again (2nd time in 7 years now) so I will be seeing the judge for the 4th time now...
Please be praying....I don't know how I will take being browbeat again if that happens ....
I can't treatment for my several back problems/injuries because MEDICAID doesn't pay for anything,,,,,,,then they use the fact you aren't getting treated in the hearing....can't win, can you?
Sunshine I know it is hard but don't just quit! They expect you too. Keep hanging in there. Mine was turned down on every level and when it went to the final place it was overturned. But mine was ended back in 99 and did not take as long as yours. My advice is still don't quit. I may be wrong but I think you can't start over so don't let this appeal fall through. I wish you well in your efforts and hope it comes through for you soon.

Hi...I understand only a little bit how frustrated you must be feeling.
I'll remember to pray for you and you will have a favorable outcome.
Regarding being seen by docs....I know several docs who see patients who don't have $....all you have to do is call and ask!
Cant recieve if you dont ask!
Just call a doctors office you're wanting to see, tell them you have no ins or $ and are suffering...ask if they wiill be willing to see/treat you at no cost.
I'll bet you won't be turned down! I'd be surprised if you are..in fact I'd be shocked if they turned you down.
They're always needing tax write offs...and this is one way to get them!
Blessings, cheryl

There are programs under the Hill-Burton Act which offer "free care" to those who qualify financially. If you are Medicaid, the is NO WAY that you WOULDN'T qualify!!!!
I don't know what area of the USA you live in, but this is federal. Plus, some hospitals seem to offer more...
In Massachusetts, MASSHealth (Medicaid) administers the freecare *paperwork* collected by the hospitals. They don't make the decisions about eligibility----the criteria is clear-cut.
I chuckle that I am eligible for 100% free care yet I am not eligible for Medicaid unless I do a spend-down of several thousands of dollars. With freecare, I don't get procedures denied if they are necessary, and I don't have to bother with the spend-down.
Is there another issue that they are "using against you"? Lack of money to get treatment is NOT supposed to be cause for denial. And not getting an invasive procedure done is also NOT supposed to be used. THey cannot demand that someone have a risky surgery. But they can look to what the claimant is doing to mitigate the symptoms of the disability they are using as basis for claim.
All the best with getting a positive conclusion to all this.

Huh, really? Ok, maybe I can do that with some naturopaths, also.
I have tried to see the hospital social workers for several years now, even the doctor referred me and the social workers refused because of "budget cuts" also.
So what do I do when I keep getting referred to rheumatology and my HMO denies me? I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia several years ago and have been denied treatment........so I should try calling some Rheumatologists to see if they will treat me anyway? ok....I wish someone at the hospital would have told me that...........
