Welcome to the Pediatric Epilepsy Subforum on BrainTalk. I admit, I have not been lurking on the Epilepsy Forum since all of the Subforum changes have been going on. But, this subforum looked so lonely, I thought I needed to pop in.

For all of you newbies (I'm assuming you are desperate parents), there are a lot of parents with kids with epilepsy on BrainTalk. Most of us hang out on the Child Neurology forum (http://brain.hastypastry.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=115). Not all of our kids have epilepsy. Some have cerebral palsy, hydrocephaly, metabolic disorders, autism, vision issues, hearing issues, and plenty of undiagnosed kids. (Plenty of overlap, too.) Feel free to ask your questions here, as well as on Child Neuro and any other BrainTalk forum you think is appropriate. Many of us pop back and forth between our forums of interest.

Also, spend some time on the other Epilepsy Subforums. I learned a lot lurking on the Epilepsy Forum. It's nice to hear firsthand seizure experience from an intelligent adult, as opposed to guessing what your non-verbal child is experiencing.

One other note (and then my kids are demanding supper;)), please check out "Seizures and Epilepsy in Childhood" by Freeman, Vining and Pillas. They do a nice job of explaining seizures, EEGs, MRIs, different meds, and managing to keep an upbeat tone throughout.

And again, welcome. Sorry you feel the need to be here.

What a cool subforum!

I tend to get stuck just at CN, I forget there is a whole wide "world" out there on brain talk! :p
