Anyone......
We have no pets but have a huge flea problem.....noticed it on our lawn and it was bad.....I put something on the lawn, but now I am finding them in the house.....
Does anyone know anything that I can use in the house that works......
My husband is working out of town.....I am not dealing with this very well....I have a lot of issues going on at this time....lots of stress from that....lots of uncertainty and having suddenly found my home invaded by fleas when we don't even have a pet is making me lose it.....I can't stand it.....
Every product I see says move things off the floors and away from the walls......HA......I am not to lift more than 2 pounds.....
Please help me if you know of something that has worked for you.......

Sorry I don't remember. We don't have fleas where we live right now.
All I can say is lemon joy for bathing the pets (that you don't have) as fleas hate it.

We always used moth balls and washed everything with dryer on high heat. Moth balls everywhere. Under the beds and furniture, in socks tucked in the beds between bed rail and mattress and in the bed down by their feet.
Here is a link that might be of some help also. Good luck.

Thank you....both....for responding to me.....
I have gotten a little hysterical over this.....it is the thing that has tipped the scale for me......so.....I really appreciate your answering my post.....
I can't do the mothballs.....the smell makes me ill.........
The link that was sent was helpful....in my reading I have read of the borax, also.....
My husband has asthma and I am so sensitive to just about everything....it is making me crazy......thank you again for responding to me.....
We have no pets, but had trouble with skunks this summer.....we are rid of them for the moment, but it is the only thing I can think of where the fleas would have come from.....I have just been vacuuming and crying....crying....it is making my husband mad at me, too.......I am having a hard time thinking any more.....
I live on the other side of a usually dry wash, but the rain came through and washed canyons into the road.....I don't even know if I will be able to get out of where I live until my husband gets back......here I go again...crying....
Blessings to you both.........

((((((Hummer)))))),
I just thought of ONE thing. Make sure that after you vacuum, you place the vacuum bag outside. The eggs can hatch inside the vacuum.
I've never heard of getting fleas with no pets. But, I'll bet you're right about the skunks bringing them close to your house. I know the fleas can be tracked in on your shoes and clothes.
Is it possible for you to stay with someone for a few days so that you can set off some of those insect bombs??
I hope you get rid of them. I know how much of an aggravation they can be. Hugs.

Hummer,
I have never had to deal with what you are dealing with.
But I do know of someone who had them in their home while she went on vacation. The story goes that a couple of raccoons were coming and going through some small opening in her house. I can't remember exactly where. All my friend told me (oh, the woman I am speaking of is her MIL) is that fleas were everywhere.
But what she did was just to live with her DIL (my friend) for a couple of weeks while they tried to trap the raccoons and then fumigate her home. I guess it worked because I didn't hear anything after that.
But I can just imagine how you are feeling. I hope that you can get rid of them soon.

The moth crystals work great to save your carpet. And it only takes a few hours to leave them in the rugs and then sweep them up.
But you definately have to leave the house for awhile. Mopping with bleach water on floors helps also.
Hope you are able to get rid of these! Fleas are horrible and I am allergic to flea bites. So I am very paranoid about my doggie getting one flea on her.
Good luck,

Hummer:
Enen though you do not have pets call the local vet in your area. Explain the problem and see if they have any solutions..Just a thought....Allie P

Again.....I thank you.....
I did call someone I know who works for a vet, but they have not returned my call.....I have been vacuuming, pulling up rugs and washing them....I steam cleaned my bathroom and put caulking where ever there was a need....I live in a very old house.....there are, spaces in places, I'd rather there weren't.....
I pulled up rugs I had in the kitchen and mopped floors.....
My 80 year old mother got across the wash in her 4-wheel drive to bring me a watermelon....!.....but it has since flooded again, cutting into the banks, far too much, for passing in vehicles.....my landlady and her husband were worried about me, so they drove to see the conditions and saw it in high flood....they called to tell me, they would be getting it cleared, enough for me to drive......but more weather is called for.....
It is a good thing I am not that important in the flow of the World....If I do not leave my home for days.....there is no ripple in anyones life......It'll just be me and the fleas....
I have read more, about the borax, and I think that is what I will try inside.....it is something that really isn't made to be taken up completely....which is good, because my vacuum doesn't suck that great, and it is bagless......I don't want to stand in the puff of chemical killers when I empty the thing.....borax seems the most effective, with the least side effects......coming as a mineral....
It made me feel better to read, repeatedly, on forums that the bombs only work for live fleas, and bugs, that they don't kill the eggs so they keep on getting them.....my home is so....NOT.....condusive to a fogger.......
There were people, who used the Borax, that lived on the beach, with pets, and said that they didn't have a problem with fleas for many years, before needing to reapply.....I once lived on the beach, and I didn't have pets, and the fleas every summer were unbelievable.....just driving on the road you could smell which homes had pets, just from the scent of the flea dip, and flea products, they used in their homes.....I always thought, that is true love, to live with that scent, for the sake of their pet.....
Thank you for helping me.....Thank you so much......
Blessings on you all............

Hummer,
I have heard that borax is a good remedy, I have never used it as a matter of fact I have always had animals and only once had a problem with fleas and it was when I lived on the 3rd floor and my cat never went outside.
Thing is your animals don't have to be the carrier of them, it is not at all uncommon for people to carry them in on their pants legs.
Now I treat my dogs year round for fleas and heart worm and never have a problem also my DH keeps the yard treated.
I'll tell you a trick I learned years ago though to see how bad you have them or if they are gone lay a white cloth on the floor and the fleas will be attracted to the white cloth.
I did move in to a house one time that was infested and the landlord tried to tell me it was all in my mind, so I had him over and laid the white cloth on the floor and proved it wasn't in my mind!!
Also If you have a bag less vacuum make sure you are emptying it outside in to a plastic bag you can tie tight and dispose of.
It will take a while to get rid of them as the multiply like rabbits.
Good luck.
Linda
I can walk in the front door then out the back and take all of them with me as I am covered in seconds if an area is infected.
I have not done much reading about them in years but memory tells me it is difficult but possible to get rid of them in a short time but it requires persistence & knowledge.
Hope you get rid of them in a few weeks … then be sure and check yourself and everything you bring into your home; I can also infest a house if I am not careful.
Good luck,
Pike
