With ethical issues concerning use of discarded embryos and technical problems hindering development of stem cell therapies, scientists in Korea are reporting the first successful use of a drug-like molecule to transform human muscle cells into nerve cells. This advance could lead to new treatments for stroke, Alzheimer's disease, Multiple Sclerosis and other neurological disorders.

In the study, Injae Shin and colleagues point out that stem cell research shows promise for repairing or replacing damaged nerve cells to treat such diseases. However, many barriers hinder efforts to move those therapies from lab to clinic. The use of "small molecules" -- compounds that include most drugs -- to generate new nerve cells from easily available cells or tissues would provide a more convenient and attractive approach to stem cell therapies, the new study notes.............

G'day Squiffy,
I wonder how many years it will take to work out all the issues facing stem-cells, before it's an everyday treatment for humans.
From what I've been through and from what I've discovered - I've said this before somewhere - I believe that they may be able to put stem-cell research in the bottom draw.
I believe many people could have better health, regardless of illness, diagnosis, condition or cause - perhaps many who suffer anything, from A to Z, from 'top to bottom', from Alzheimer's to AIDS, could gain better health from my research, experimentation, trial and error.
My research - even though I'm not a medical person - backs up this claim. I'm not claiming the treatment which I use as a cure for anything, but I am saying I believe it will give better health to many.
I believe lack of oxygen in the body, tissues, cells, nerves, brain etc., from injury and/or toxin - even exposed to these years ago as I was - could be one of the main factors in many illnesses and conditions, and I believe a simple treatment which suppressed and eventually reversed most of my symptoms could help many have better health like I now have.
But without the medical belief of my experimentation and better health, I'm banging my head on a brick wall.

So, what did you do for yourself and how did it help? I'm curious.

G'day Mary,
Thanks for being curious. I've written my treatment on BT in Multiple Sclerosis thread - MOT - Mini Oxygen Treatment - by ainee - in April 2007 - which is now a locked thread (and about page 25). There are a few other threads about MOT or replies about it as well, but the locked one is probably the one with most details all together.
I pray that it will help someone else to have better health like it has for me.
Have a nice day.
