and they said that my test was completed today and that they should be either mailing out the information, or faxing it to my doctor tomorrow.

I hope they fax it, and I hope my doctor's office checks their fax machine often tomorrow and calls me before the end of the day. I didnt think I'd be all nervous and stressed about it, but now that I know the test results are in, I'm all freaking out wanting to know what it said! I actually took half an Ativan a little while ago because I'm feeling lots of stress...

Too bad Igenex wouldnt tell me what the result is.

I'll be surprised if it's a positive Lyme result.

I go to my neuro tomorrow to get set up for my MS drugs...maybe I'll get lucky and my regular doctor will call me before the neuro appointment and tell me what the results are... (not likely, my appt isnt till 11am CST...doubt anyone at Igenex will be up that early in CA to fax the information out)

I'm still waiting for the result. I called my doctor's office today, and they claim that Igenex will send ME the result....but Igenex said they'd be faxing the info to my doctor's office.

Hopefully they'll mail me the results, but I really wish they'd fax it to my doctor so that my doctor's office would tell me what it said. Apparently it didnt get faxed today.

Hi Erin, Unless they've changed things in the last few months since my tests were done, they do not send any reports to you!! The report goes to the doctor who signed the order & it's the doctor who will give you a copy if you ask for it. Also, Igenex can not tell you what your results were because they don't keep a copy of the results. Once the work is done, all information is sent to the doctor & they keep nothing. That's what I was told by Igenex, so.......put on your patience hat!!!

At least you don't have to wait as long as I did. In 2002 when I had the blood sent to them for the first time, there was nothing back from them for one month!!! Maybe they didn't fax then, I don't know.

I don't know how much you think about this, but keep in mind, even if you don't get an absolute Positive it doesn't mean much. I only got an Equivocal my first time around. That's better than Negative, but not as good as Positive; the treatment goes by symptoms & not the tests anyway. The tests are only used as a verification of the diagnosis. Equivocal basically means there is something there, but it's not strong enough to cause a positive reaction.

Also, not all people have antibodies toward the bacteria, so you may never, no matter what, test positive. The bacteria move quickly from the blood to other parts of the body & the only way to test tissue is to cut you all up like Swiss cheese.

I'm not going to say anything further other than I hope all the worry turns out to be worth it; that you have a for sure answer as to what is happening to your health.

Ruth

Well, I got something in the mail from Igenex today...The Bill!!!! (actually it was a receipt for the credit card transaction)

Still no results tho...I called my doctor's office this afternoon, waited most of the day just in case they hadnt gotten the fax yet. Still, they had nothing. The lab tech said for me to try again tomorrow morning, and that she'd be watching the fax machine for my results to come thru.

Sure wish that Igenex would hurry up...I know it can take up to a month to get the results, but I know the test was completed on monday...I just have to wait for the paperwork to make it back to my doctor.

Sorry this is a drawn out process for you, Erin. But it's important to try to keep the stress levels down and not sweat the small stuff. Waiting is iso har though. Reminds me of this prayer ...

"Dear God, I pray for patience. Can I have it now???"

Good luck.

Erin, it is not easy to be patient, that's for sure. Hang in there!

Labs release results to the physician who ordered them, not to patients. Your doctor's office was probably harried and not thinking clearly when they told you otherwise.

My lab results were faxed, and the doctor's office people put them in my folder (where it did no one any good) and then kept telling me that they did not have them, in spite of the fact that IGeneX told me they did provide them. I finally resolved the runaround by showing up at my doctor's office unannounced. I planned to ask them to call IGeneX while I was standing there, if they still claimed not to have them. Amazingly, the results appeared in about twenty seconds, and the office manager acted very embarrassed. I hope you don't have to resort to doing this!

My experience with the folks at IGeneX is that they are very organized and can be believed when they tell you the status of your test results. Note that they did not bill you until they had the results ready. Of course, everyone is human, and mistakes are possible....

I called my doctor's office today. They checked in my chart, they checked the fax machine, and still nothing, nada, bupkiss...

The doctor's office lab manager said that she would call Igenex for me and check again.

I'm only a wee bit impatient.
