Hi, I was told by a Navy Nurse of 19 years that red dye #40 has been correlated with children with ADHD and with children being hyper. My friend has two young sons and has cut out red dye in their diets and has noticed a big change in the way they act when they don't have any foods with red dye in it. They are much less hyper. By the way, they do not have ADHD.

I have been doing some research on the internet and it seems that a lot of people agree that red dye causes irritability and hyperness.

My daughter is bi-polar and has ADHD... and I am going to cut out red dye in her diet to see if it helps her. She is 11 years old and is going absolutely crazy right now. Which is making the family crazy too!

I thought that if any of you haven't read about this yet, it might be some help!

Red 40 and the other 6 FD&C dyes can trigger the symptoms of ADHD. There is a support group with a very informative website at www.feingold.org:)
