Hi All.
A few of you have contact with me and have been told about my new pet, so no fair...you can't tell them what sort of pet this is! OK?!?!
Anyway...my new pet has 4 legs, a tail that doesn't wag, and he's not very bright. I'd go as far to say...he's rather slow these days even though he's quit young.
He's sometimes totally into himself...loves to go to a cool spot and hide out during the day after a cool dip in the pond.
He did get out of his pen and high-tailed it towards the neighbors yard.

He refuses to come when called...and the other day he snapped and hissed at me when I fed him some food.
His favorite is salmon dinner loaf "Friskies" brand.
He's pretty quiet, doesn't like to get petted either so he's not one to be cuddled with.
I tried tickeling his tummy but he only struggled to get back on all 4's.
Anyone wanna take a guess what sort of animal LeRoy is?
I'll post a picture tomarrow night....one where he's posing with my grandaughter, but I couldn't get him to smile. Way too cute!

I'd say LeRoy is a snapping turtle or tortoise.. :)

Here is one my boys found crossing the road here a couple weeks ago but we gave to my mom.. SHe named him Helmet..

LeRoy's a turtle! I've been sorta under the weather...but I'll post the pics when my hubby gets back and helps me.
GinaMari was right!...but I noticed you'd fed it iceburg lettuce...from what I've read is NOT something to feed them...must be dark lettuce. I didn't know that and fed him that at first...web has lots of info for feeding/housing.
I feed LeRoy dandelions...even got him a beetle...he had run chasing it down, yummy!
They even love slugs! I'm wondering if you still have them after your invasion few months ago....eeeew!
I've got a perfect "yard" for LeRoy....its in my backyard with a little pond, with a little sloped ramp so he gets in and out of it easily.
He's only about 6 inches wide.

lol YES I still deal with the slugs.. but I havent turned off my kitchen light off since so I havent had as many slugs. lol

Tho the turtlel went up to live with my mom up in Colfax (2-3 hrs away). I didnt need any more pets. We got the new kitten like a day or two before the turtle so to many pets for me.

Your backyard sounds like a great place for your turtle. Cant wait to see pics of him.

My mom named the turtle "Helmet". lol
