Hi everyone! I know that there are a million posts about the duragesic patch - I did a search first. I've been using the patch for about three and a half years and am wondering if I'm putting it on in the best place. According to the literature it can be placed on "chest, back, or flank". I've found that it either doesn't stick well, or it pulls and pinches if I stick it on a soft spot, like inner arm or chest :o . Plus clothing can really pull or press on it. I can't reach my back and I've never really thought of asking my husband for help. Would lower back, just above the waist be ok? All of these years I've been putting it on what I thought was my "flank". Today I finally looked up flank and it sounds to me that it's pretty close to the waist area and therefore likely to be pulled on by clothing. Any ideas please? I've been getting the generic brand and change them every two days so the cost of buying a good tape to cover them can add up.
Thanks

I place my patches on my flank area and also on my belly, right along the midline area (on either side of my belly-button), which keeps them from being rubbed by clothing and keeps them on the trunk of the body, which has the most stable temp and circulation (the two biggest factors with patches). I can't use the chest either because of the pulling...and placing them on my back is just out of the question completely...I have trouble hooking my bra, let alone reaching back to hold the patch in place for it to stick.
Hope this helps some.

I've had a bit of a problem on the stomach area too when I tried it before. When I sit there are these nice little rolls :p and that kind of stretched the patches. But I'm moving up to the 75 and it looks a bit larger so maybe that might be better. (On an aside - if I wear a bra, like I feel compelled to at work still, it is either the type that does up at the front, or I do it up at the front and slide it around. I remember my doctor asking me years ago if it was hard to do up at the back and I had a duh moment. I've never done it that way!)
Thanks Theresa, I'll give it a try. I'd been aiming more towards the "rear" of the flank!

Hi Mudge:
Food for thought here. I wear mine on my chest just below where the bra line is. I turn it so it so the long part is up and down and just between the jelly beans..(sorry gentlemen). When I have to alternate (every 48 hrs ) I go to just above the JB's on either side.I has worked well for about 3 years now.Hope it helps...Allie
I put my patch on the lower abdomen under the belly button. It works well for me and my undergarments keep it in place as well.
