The backs of my hands hurt so much! It is a kind of stinging pain that has been going on for a couple of weeks. I can't figure out what to do to help it. Has anyone else had to deal with this and what do you do?

I've tried using my wrist braces, doing warm soaks, cold soaks, massage and they still hurt. I'm taking Neurontin for Neuralgia and that should be helping with nerve pain so if I am still feeling this much irritating pain even through the meds, I know it is really pretty bad.

I know I am probably over using them but they are my HANDS so what else am I supposed to use? Such a dilemma.

Hi Alli - I'm sorry to hear that your hands are hurting like that. I know just what you mean. I find that chilling them helps best - running them under cold water, or resting them on an ice pack. Next thing - and probably dumb - is keeping them very still and they seem to go numb then. I use a talk-and-type software for the computer at work and that saves on a lot of hand motion.

If anyone else has ideas I'd be glad to hear them too!:)

Hi Alli,

Yep I have this pain, I just wait it out because it goes away within 24 hours....I have found nothing to relieve this kind of my fibro pain and since it is not normally debilitating for me I just ride it out.....

It is highly annoying thats for sure, and I get it in multiple places not just my hands....It causes the spot to be especially sensitive and I cannot stand to have anything touch it.....

Just another fun fibro symptom....Blech....

:( Yup I get it too. My hands also itch horribly, and my feet, It's all due to nerve pain, possibly neurological my Dr said. I don't have ins.. so therefore I can not afford to see a specialist. I Scratch so much I have sores on my hands and feet. good luck. Madre'

My hand pain is probably due more to osteoarthritis, than fibromyaligia. However, the best thing for me is to do the dishes, by hand. When my first baby was born, I had so much pain and problem with my hands, I would have to soak them in hot water before I went to pick him up. That went away as the hormones readjusted.

Hot water will make any kind of rash or itching worse, so it's best not to use this if you have itching. Cold would be better, in that case. Cheerio.
