As some of you know I have cancer of the thyroid and will have surgey on the 2 of Aug. Now I have been looking up treatment and thing so I will know what the Dr will be talking to me about after the Surgery. Well the treatment is radioiodine. I am alleged to iodine. What would they use IF I had to have treatments?

It is my understanding that they use radioactive-iodine to "destroy" a over active/benign thyroid .. in place of surgery. the thyroid gland has an infinity for iodine.. that is why they use a radioactive-iodine to destroy a over active thyroid. If you are having your thyroid removed via surgery.. there would seem to be little need for radio-active iodine
