Well I had drs appt on 12th and asked him about lyrica for my fibro. He wasnt aware of the new findings so he said give him time to read about it and he would get back to me. Today they called and said it was ok to take it and he would call me in rx...uh, no doc, sorry, samples please. These type of meds like all others work for some and not for others and is way too expensive for me to "try" when I have no rx coverage. He gave me a bottle of 30 of the 75mg ones and said take one a day. I hope it helps and doesnt cause me to gain any more weight...have enough of that already. For those of you that take it, is there a better time to take it..morning or evening? I dont want anything that will keep me awake at night. Any specific side effects to be on the lookout for?

HI Karen,
I would reccommend trying the lyrica at night first. It may cause some sedation or dizziness, so it would probably be best to take it when you are able to lye down if necessary. I hope it works,

Hi Karen,
I agree with Rod, take it at bedtime as it can and probably will make you a bit dizzy at first.
I will cut & paste one of my posts on the Spinal Disorders forum.
I take Lyrica for pain, numbness and tingling in my hands and arms. It works great for me anyway. I do not like the thought of having to take Lyrica for the long term. But as long as it is helping..... I will take it. Lyrica calms the nerves down. I took Neurontin for quite a long time. The SE were bad when I got above 2400mg. I was a space case. Lyrica does not do that to me. I tolerate it fine at 450mg and I plan to go to 600mg a day in August. I also started at 75mg am and pm. When you start Lyrica it may make you dizzy... but it will pass.
I take pain meds, Lyrica, Cymbalta and Baclofen in the effort to curb the effects of radicular neuropathy. Not to mention the chronic daily migraines.
Take care,
Jim

Karen, I just wanted to wish you well on the Lycra. I haven't used it but I know many people on the site say it makes them dizzy and they take it at night.

Karen,
Jim is right. I have taken Lyrica off and on. It took about 3 days but the dizziness DOES pass. :)

Karen I would take it at night for now until your body adjusts to it. Many people swear by Lyrica for Fibro, but persoanlly I didn't find it helpful, but then again I can be weird with meds. Give it a try and Iwill be praying that this is the key to better health for you.

I took the first one last night...and im glad I was at home when I did and had no where to go! I cant exactly describe it as dizzy but boy was I feeling wierd. Spacey and almost drunk feeling. This will pass, right? Oh, as far as results, if I get any, about how long does it take the med to really work?

Karen,
I had the same side effects. It took about 2-3 days for the spacey feeling to pass. I guess this is why Lyrica is a scheduled med.
Take care of youself and give Lyrica a good chance. I really does help me and I hope that it will help you too.:)
