It's been a while since I posted, but I thought maybe we could do a roll call
and see how everyone is doing. I've been really sick since the first of the year. I have an underlying bladder disease and went in for minor surgery and I haven't been the same since. I've lost about 22lbs, which I only weighed 104 to begn with, so now I look like a walking sack of bones. I was throwing up almost everything I ate, although my gastro seems to be getting in under control. I now weigh 85 lbs.
Please come on and share how you've been and let me know if anything like this has ever happened to any of you.
Oh I should say that in March they kept me in the hospital for 5 days runnig every test known to man and still NOTHING!! Very frustrating.
It's good to talk to everyone and I hope to hear from all of you soon!!

Hi Lisa,
I've been checking several times a week and it seems as if everyone is on vacation, or simply not posting. I haven't really had much problem with the fibro, although I slept poorly the night before a lower GI test, and have had difficulty catching up on sleep. I have a new diagnosis, diverticulosis, and the testing is to see whether there is anything more worrisome, like a malignancy hiding somewhere in my gut. I haven't had any test results yet so no news is good news, in my opinion. Usually if something is terribly wrong you are told immediately. Cheerio.

I've been checking in daily but no one's been posting. I'm fighting a lot of body pain and fatigue. I'm seeing a new doctor and trying a new nutrition plan to reduce the overall inflammation in my body. I'm really hoping it will help as I have zero energy right now. I sleep about 10-12 hours a day which twice as much as two years ago.

If this works I will definitely post the results.

Hi Alli,
Has the new doctor started with a good general physical? I think it's really important that anyone with the symptoms of fibromyalgia, have a complete physical with basic blood work annually. So many times, the fibro symptoms seem to appear first, then later on the underlying condition that has precipitated the fibro becomes more apparent.

Sleep has always been the healing element for me. I use aspirin if I'm in enough pain to prevent falling asleep. Usually, I'm better in the summer, as long as I stay out of the sun and avoid sunburn. For some reason, I seem to get at least a mild flare in the fall. I don't know if it's the change in the weather, the lesser amount of day light, or something written in the stars! I've been aware of this for several years now and can't figure it out. Cheerio.

Tootsie and Allie thanks for the replies. I would like to get this forum active again and it's so helpful to us and especially the new comers. Maybe if we just chat more often that will get other people involved and we can get this up and running.

I'm here as well. I usually don't read that often during the summer months. I find that I make myself do more things outside than in, and so I'm not handy the computer.

I'd be willing to bet most are like this.

I am still struggling with fatigue, shortness of breath, weak legs & arms, tremors and a few other things.

I try to do my gardening, and sometimes all I manage to do is pull about 3 weeds and lay on the ground (and pray someone will just shovel dirt over me and be done with it! :D )

But eventually I stagger to my feet or knees and hobble back into the house!

I hope everyone is doing well this summer and that's the reason for not so many posts.
Lorraine:)

I've had a physical and a bunch of tests. We know that a really big part of my problem is that I am not absorbing nutrients from my food very well and my blood sugar is severely low. I have rather severe IBS which should have been a big clue to me over the last year.

I've cut out all gluten, sugar and dairy for at least a month to see if things improve. It isn't that much of a change to my diet as I don't eat a lot of sugar or wheat. But gluten is in everything so that is proving to be interesting and I am really missing the dairy as I LOVE cheese. But if it improves my health and symptoms then I will give up cheese.

There are others in my family who have wheat and dairy sensitivities so it isn't a stretch to think that I do also. I also have a lot of Northern European heritage so Celiac's Disease is a real possibility.

I've had so many accidents and surgeries that finding the underlying problem with the Fibro will be difficult as the other physical problems, migraines and Trigeminal Neuralgia also add their influence into the mix. I'm just a mess, but am hopeful that this will help, at least a little.

I will keep chatting so that we can keep this forum active. I look here for advice and support as you are some of the only people who really understand what I am going through.

On a good note.. I am going on vacation to Vegas tomorrow and am looking forward to a long weekend of relaxation and fun with my favorite sister. I've never been there so I am looking forward to seeing the Disneyland for adults. :)

Whisper~~you sound an awful lot like me!! I try to get things done, but I just don't have the stamina for it.:( Oh well I've gotten used to it now.

Alli~~I've never been either so please post when you come back and let me know how it was. I would love to do something like that!!
I know what my underlying conditions are for the Fibro and it didn't make me feel any better to find out!! I have alot going on too so we may have some things in common. Have a safe trip!!

Alli,
I hope that you've found the Gluten Sensitivity and Celiac Disease Forum here at Braintalk! All of your symptoms will find sympathetic ears there, believe me!

My 14 year old grandson has been on a Gluten Free diet for about a year and it has done wonders in all realms. There hasn't been any medical diagnosis, but his Mom works with autistic children and some of the parents had talked to her about GF diets and how it seemed to help the children be more amenable to therapy. I occasionally post there. They have helped me find recipes of GF things to make for my grandson.

My kitchen now holds brown rice flour, white rice flour, potato starch, potato flour (THEY ARE NOT THE SAME THING), tapioca starch, larger amounts of corn starch, xanthum gum, oat flour, etc. The learning curve is steep but doable.

Some of the people on the site, have had neurological symptoms before any gastro intestinal symptoms. A friend of mind, had no other symptoms than being terribly anemic...a HGB of 4! They gave her 6 units of blood before beginning all the testing. They found the Celiac Disease by biopsy of her small intestine. She wasn't absorbing iron from her diet.

Have a great vacation. Cheerio.
