Hmmm I cannot get the link to work. Could you please post the title so I can search it that way.

Well that stupid URL wouldn't let me in either, this time. I did read it before, so maybe the site has gone down or something. I did a search, couldn't remember the name of the article cause I didn't copy it. Here's what I found.

Blimey, is this the article you read? I have Lyme brain tonight, but this article looks familiar to me.

http://discovermagazine.com/1999/jul/mysteriousfevers1661

"Mysterious Fevers"
Mr. Ervin didn't know what hit him, and neither did his doctor
by Daniel C. Weaver

I'm going to go back to the site where I found the URL posted & find out if anyone copied & pasted the article. I wonder, was this article taken off this particular site because a copied article without permission was posted there.

I have no clue; I'll get back to you one this. Ruth

I searched the http://www.discovermagazine.com site from May 2007 forward and found nothing about ticks -- any chance this article was bogus (in that Discover never published it), and it's been pulled because Discover learned it was victim of a false claim? I couldn't access the URL posted, so I can't check this for myself.

Sorry, I can't remember for sure!! This article looks familiar but I don't think it was the same one that I read the other day. Lyme brain looms large!

Hi Gang, I have contacted the person who submitted the article URL on another site & she has in turn found a person who did copy the article. She sent me the article & I just finished typing it from a PDF format; there aren't any pictures, but it's much easier to deal with.

Anyway, I've contacted David to ask permission to post the entire article here on the site. As soon as he gets back to me, I'll know if I can post it or if I need to email the article to those who wish to read it.

I'll let you know what he says. The article is 4 pages long; hence, the reason for asking permission. Ruth

Thanks Ruth!

Is it called "Mysterious Fevers?" If so, I was able to pull it up on your second link.

Hi Lymebytes, No the name of the article is TICK TIME-BOMB.

I haven't heard back yet whether it's ok to post the lengthy article here. What do you all think? Would it be ok to post a 4 page story? If you guys think it would be ok, then I'll go ahead & do it & see if I get in trouble for having done so. :D Ruth

You're very welcome!!!!!!!!! The biggest challenge wasn't posting it here, you can only have so many "characters", but retyping it from PDF format to word document format. It took me a while to get it all retyped, but I'm so glad I did. Trying to read PDF is a pain in the rear!!!!!

I hope you all enjoy the article; I just wish I could have posted on a more happy topic. I guess, since the woman & her son were finally dxed & treated, that makes it a more upbeat story. :)

I wish the same "happy ending" for each of us!! Ruth
