Does anyone have an opinion on Lyrica. I have been on this med for 6 days now and am starting to feel the side effects of weight gain and bloating. I was on 50 mg three times a day and have cut back to two a day and plan to try only taking only one a day. I have been very spacey and can't concentrate very well. It has been helping the pain so I am very torn about what I should do. Any thoughts from any one?

Yes i have an opinion on lyrica or pregabalin as it is sometimes tellingly called.
Tongue tied they may well have called it as that is the main side effect it had on me.However i persevered and i think it was worth it.The side effects did not last long .They treat my pain and epilepsy at the same time like neurontin which lyrica replaced for me.And the side effects of those were intolerable.I have seen it referred to in brain talk as " Morontin"
Do keep them up at least until you see your doc.I would not now be without it.
Good luck and farewell

lyrica causes some very nice fat gain.
spacey wouldn't be the word, more like zombie, but got that at 300mg and 450mg a day.
withdrawals are a bitchh!

Oh those meds that "simply" mask the symptoms...
No matter how much you take...it will do nothing to cure the source of your pain.
If you pain is from Peripheral Neuropathy...there may be help for you!
I too was given such meds, Nuerontin, Lyrica, Gabi-something...
It was more like MORONTIN!...a drueling zombie!
and it did little, if any, for the pain.
I suffered several years of this pain...and then....:) ;)
I found Braintalk!
Rose on the Vit/Min def forum here suggested I take a proper form of vitamin B12,
Methlycobalamin, sublingual (under tongue) tablets.
Within weeks my Nueropathy was nearly gone.
Documented by a repeated EMG and NC test at Mayo Clinic.
Was moderate level of PN, sock glove pattern in June.
It only got worse after the testing...but Sept 3 I took my first vitamin B12.
Sept 10 I had enough strength to get out of bed.
Mid October, normal testings! Wow!
Even tho my B12 level was within normal range, 232 (actually very low) but the doctors know little regarding B12 levels and US standards.
I'd contact Rose, perhaps she may be able to help guide you.
Blessings, cheryl
