Well, it's been almost a month since I had a cigarette!!! But I've been using the Nicorette inhaler so I haven't been nicotine free yet. I find the inhaler is fantastic. I've been a smoker for 30 years and I've tried to quit a few other times. I've never made it this long before, nor has it been this easy. But I'm experiencing things that I don't know if they are regular withdrawal symptoms or whether it's because of my meds, or epilepsy.......

I can be pretty jittery and shaky at times - I think that's normal. But I've been getting tremors and jerks a fair bit and I'm wondering if perhaps the more pure nicotine and epilepsy don't get along  ? Perhaps it's the stress - that can cause seizures for me.

Any ideas from other "quitters" with epilepsy?

Thanks, Mudge

PS - I'm going to start withdrawing from the inhaler soon. My husband, who has smoked for 40 years, used it for 1 week and then dropped it. I feel a bit weak that I'm still using it, but on the other hand, if that's what keeps me away from cigarettes I'm going to use it.

Hi Mudge ~ I used those Nicorette patches for 90 ( I think !!) some days with such grand success. My epilepsy did not give me any trouble with my choice.

I did go through lots of spells of: sometimes anger, sometimes depression, sometimes "shakes"....lots of things as I reduced nicotine. It takes time to clear yourself of that poison. Praise God when it's gone. Praise YOURSELF.

Boy, did I get praise from my surgeon -lol.

You're doing a great thing for yourself...... keep it up !!!!

Chantix is one of those FDA approved drugs which can be used to get over smoking habit. It works on body by giving you the same feel good effect like smoking and hence reduces the craving for nicotine. You can have all the information on chantix here http://www.chantixhome.com/ This medicine should only be used in accordance with the instructions of a physician as there are various side effects which may vary from person to person and it includes change of taste, sleeplessness and many more. I have smoked for more than 10 yrs, but now I am spending a smoke free life from last 2 months. Thanks to chantix. Along with having this medicine, you should also have will power and feeling that you want to get over this habit.
