Hi-

New to the forum.

My wife is quadriparetic with MS and is currently bedridden. Does anyone know of a TV remote or other technological gadget that she could use? Since she has no use of her hands I have to always change the station for her.

I have tried the voice activated ones...but, with no success.

Thanks---

Hi Careguy,
Somewhere I have saved a couple of sites with gadgets that were specifically designed for people with ALS. I'll try to find that now and come back and post.

You might get more ideas if you post over on the MS forum here. I'm sure many people there would be able to direct you to specific sites which have Enabling Devices.

Here's one example for Remotes. I shall return with a couple other sites if I can find them

http://enablingdevices.com/catalog/media/remote-controls

http://www.mda.org/publications/Quest/q125eadls.html
Might be something there down the bottom in their list of EADL Resources

There may be something here from ABLEDATA

http://www.resna.org/taproject/at/stateprograms.html
National Assistive Technology Technical Assistance Partnership (NATTAP)

Not sure exactly about this one but I'll post it anyway.
ECUs. In the Index - environmental control unit (ECU)
http://www.als-mda.org/publications/als/als10_4.html#new_alsbook

http://www.ucsf.edu/brain/pdf/ALSManual.pdf
This PDF is actually called "Daily Activities Made Easier for People with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
It's an excellent general site and it can be searched for specific keywords. Takes ages to load though.

Dynamic Living might have something on their site.

Also, a knowledgeable OT or Assistive Technology Practitioner (ATP) should know of something.

There are also more websites in the Useful Websites section on this Forum in the post above.
