How's Drew doing? I seem to remember he's having a baclofen pump fitted this summer - when is that? good luck and I really hope it helps with the tone but also does not interfere too much with his other activities - camp/pool etc ;)

Hi Lauren,

Thanks for the inquiry about Drew. Yes he is scheduled to get the pump on July 30th. It had previously been scheduled for August 6th but with school starting on the 14th of August I thought it best to bump it up alittle sooner to give him a bit more time to heal and adjust.
We opted to wait til the end of the summer so it wouldn;t interfer with summer fun. He just came home last night from Easter Seals Camp Kysoc. He had a great time and hated to leave. Next week we are headed out to Deans Lake for our own camping trip with a small beach.
He is happy he will not have to take the oral meds after the pump. He's not too nervous as of yet but as time gets closer I'm sure the jitters will set in for both him and I. We hate surgery but are very hopeful this will make him at least more comfortable.
Will keep you posted.

Thanks for the update - I hope the pump works really well for Drew and that you/he aren't too nervous by the time July 30th comes = sometimes waiting makes things so much worse because it gives you time to dwell on the what-ifs etc. At least he has things to distract him - enjoy your holiday, and like I said when the time comes good luck to both of you and I hope it is of great benefit! :)
