How sad, regardless...
LIZARD :(
It is very sad for a family disagreement to become public. I realize they are public figures, etc., but it's still hard to settle an emotional issue when your every word and action is on public display.
I have very little good to say about bloggers. You never know who they are or what their motives are. And they often attack viciously, with little recourse on the part of the attacked.
I hope the family can get past their differences and get back to providing the best possible care for the little boy, and also to provide information for the autism community.

Being dead certain you are right and everyone else is wrong - not only divides religions, nations and families, it also leads to the Spanish Inquistion....
The one thing I know for sure about Autism - is that I KNOW NOTHING FOR SURE ABOUT AUTISM!!!!! Nor would I ever presume to tell others what they "know" is wrong. Nothing is proven.

I'd say that the connection between mercury and Autism rates is one of the few things that has been proven pretty definitively to be false. The studies have been done and there's not be a link found. The problem is people are not willing to accept that. The personal injury lawyers are certainly not because they can make a killing off of this. They help perpetuate the myths, because it's in their financial interest.
I do think it's important to air this disagreement publicly because this is something the community as a whole needs to work through before we can move on.
