Is sensory integration disorder a seperate condition, or just part of the PDD, autistic condition? I am off to my research on this (have done some already), but you people are one of my research resources :) . What better place than people who live with this stuff every day, in addition to a journel article written by someone who may not even have kidos---both sets of research are important to me.

We saw an OT today (first time in two years :( ) who says she sees SID in my daughter where I thought all these characteristics were just part of her autism. We are also finally going to be able to get her set up with some OT, and speech therapy--or so it seems...:) . The PT evaluationtionist felt sweetie just needed to continue being worked with at home, and on the playground!! Play play play was her prescription.

Well I am off to continue my research, just what I have read already kinda leads me to believe these two conditions are so tightly intertwined it would be very hard to place a characteristic in a paticular category. More like you would be so busy putting that characteristic in both categories--so what is the point?

Thanks again,

Mayzoo

SID is almost always present in autism (my understanding), but can also be a separate disorder when not accompanied by other autistic characteristics.

What Peglem said. ;) SID is nearly always a component to autism, but you can certainly have SID to any degree without the autism. SID is a very common effect of many neuro conditions. I have it due to my hydrocephalus.
