There is one other option...

I went to one of the better Arab restaurants in Washington, DC and they use no knives, spoons or forks.

The fact there were no chairs was more of a problem for me. About nine of us sat on a cluster of cushions around this large round "coffee table".

It did get quite exciting when they place a single large cooked chicken in the center of the coffee table.

On a more practical note, I do sympathize with your situation and I am suggesting that you might use a similar technique that I was forced to adopt for this meal.

Cut up some “Syrian Bread” into little “pockets” and scoop the food (from small bowls) into them and then stuff it into the mouth. Providing you correctly target the mouth you will find it works quite well. This may force you to adopt a more Medetertian style diet which I hear is quite healthy.

Have you tried any meds that help with shaking?

I have found Klonopin helps.........

I've had the same problem, not because of tremors, but because it's so hard to handle an eating utensil, assemble a mouthful of food, and get it to my mouth. Eating ends up being so exhausting it hardly seems worth it. I've gone to food I can pick up in my hands -- sandwiches, pizza, fried chicken, cookies, etc. I just had to be flexible with what I eat.

They have weighted forks, knives and spoons for those with tremors. Ask your doctor to see an occupational therapist (I believe that's what they are called). They will have tips and tools to help you...

Edited to add a link I found about OT:

First -- I'm sorry to hear of this development and hope that the phase comes to an end shortly.

I'm in the midst of reading 'healing multiple sclerosis' by Ann Boroch. She seams to think that the major cause of MS relates to a yeast imbalance. That's a bit extreme for me, if it were that simple we'd all be better. However, her recommendations for getting rid of a potential yeast imbalance can't do any harm and have done her patients lots of good, thinking of giving it a try.
