I am in the process of lowering my tegretol xr. I am supposed to lower it one pill a month or as I feel comfy. Anyway I am a teacher of kids (first graders). I haven't had seizures that were for sure seizures in a long time but I have been on a lot of tegretol for a long time. I am worried if I lower the amount I might lower the threshold too much and then have a seizure (and I always had them during the morning when I would be with the kids). Should I tell the principal, she doesn't even know I have epilepsy. It is in my original medical exam on being hired, but it has been a couple years since I even bothered telling a principal. It seems like it could be a hassel for no reason but if something does go wrong it could be useful. I would like to hear your opinions. Thanks.

what kind of seizures?

do you have a teacher's aide?

do you have a friend who teaches in a nearby room?

first graders are definitely not going to be helpful if you have a seizure.

wait for sue porkette to come along. she has lots of experience with teaching while having seizures. she will know the best way to handle it.
