Hi fellow CIDPers, I have a question related to IVIg. I was diagnosed with CIDP in April 2005, and have since received regular IVIg infusions. I currently receive IVIg every 4 weeks, and it definitely helps me. I'm a single mom, who has two boys (ages 3 and 5) to keep up with, so I need all the help I can get - lol!
I generally undergo STD testing at least once a year, and I recently received results back from an HSV type 2 test (herpes) that indicated I was positive. I've never had an STD in my life, and the two partners I've had over the past year have tested negative for herpes in the past month. I had the blood drawn for the test the day after receiving my IVIg -- didn't think about it impacting it. Likewise, I was tested for HIV at the same time -- and that test came out Inconclusive. I got retested for the HIV a week ago (about 2 1/2 weeks after the IVIG infusion), and again -- Inconclusive. I also took another HSV type II test last week and am waiting for those results.
Has anyone else had this experience? Am I to believe that I have herpes even though I've never had symptoms and my past partners don't have it?? And what about the HIV inconclusive test results????
Very confused, and a little scared....
