OMG, I am so freaking exhausted and every muscle and joint are killing me. Worse than ever before. Have four days until the moving trucks get here and am pushing myself beyond the limit. I am so overtired and stressed that I can't sleep at night, so am getting no reprieve.

My husband came home from a long week of work and is not going back up until the moving trucks come; he's been a big help packing the heavier stuff this weekend.

To add insult to injury, there have been major complications with the new home we are buying. We should have closed last Wednesday but have not yet. There's a chance we are going to lose it ... so I don't know where we are going to live.

This totally stinks. My Lyme is in such flare ... I guess the stress is really aggravating things.

OK, rant over.

Thanks.

B ~

I have lived with stuff for so long and spent MANY thousands of $ and not sure for what.

Best I can do is pray for you and hope your housing situation some how works out.

Hi B. Moving is very stressful, even for a healthy person. It is very hard when you are dealing with Lyme. Let your husband do as much as possible.

I hope your closing goes through okay. Once you get into a place, make sure you get the rest you need. Let things stay in boxes for however long is necessary.

Keep us posted on how things are going okay?

Hi Rafe, welcome!

How long have you been sick? Are you currently being treated?

Blimey, I'm sorry to hear about this,I agree moving is too much stress even for a healthy person, can you possibly get someone else to do the packing?

It's not worth saving $$ if it sets you back on your health. Hire professional movers & take it off your taxes, get your doctor to request it.

Sure hope the sale goes through.....just wanted to let you know how badly I feel for you going through all this!

I know that if I overdo one day-I can count on at least 3 days downtime. It seems to be a lesson I tend to forget over & over but it's a fact of my life now.

At the very least, take time outs, make sure to drink lots of good water & eat small low carb snacks to help keep up your energy. Set a timer if you have to! Rest at least every 30 minutes.

I don't check in here often so haven't been following your story, as I recall you have children @ home? Please ask anyone/everyone you know for help!

Gentle hug,Buttons

Thanks, Rafe, Lymbytes and Buttons,

I appreciate your kind words and support. We have decided to have the movers complete the packing on Wednesday (it is so expensive), so that helps a lot. Guess we'll be eating a lot more p, b & j sandwiches.

Yes, Buttons, I have two kids. My 14 y.o. has Asperger's Syndrome (on the autistic spectrum) and I home school him, and I have a 9 year old daughter. My husband has been working at his new job M-F about 500 miles away for the past 5 months. He's finally home until we move. It's been a long road.

We still are having problems on the new home front ... I may have to have the movers move our stuff to storage until we can figure out where we will go if we can't resolve the problems by Wed. Truth is definately stranger than fiction. Buying this house has been an oddesey (SP?).

Well duh, it just occurred to me that all your expenses for moving can be taken off your taxes since it was a requirement of your husband's job right? Now let's just pray the packers do a good job & don't cause you stress!

Blimey, I can't say how much I admire you! I'm somewhat familiar with Asperger's through a friend of mine. I helped her connect with a support group, are you involved with one? (other than internet that is)

Hopefully tomorrow will bring nothing but good news about the house sale. If not, you have to believe it will soon work out or else this house wasn't the right one for you & your family.

I simply cannot imagine how women manage with kids or grandkids to keep up with. I know you do what you have to do. I barely manage taking care of myself most days it seems.

Try to sit back & relax & think ahead to warm summer nights outside with your feet up & a cool drink & the kids asleep, hubby next to you looking out over your new lawn & perhaps some pretty flowers to catch a scent of....

I promise there are better days ahead! But....if you wear yourself out you will pay the price! Keep in mind that guilt is a self-imposed emotion, learn to say no & ask for help!

Hi B. It is good the movers will be helping. I know it is a relief.

I am sure you are looking forward to all being together in your new home. I hope everything works out soon so you don't need to worry.

Keep us posted okay?

Blimey, I am sending you strength. Nothing is harder than moves, especially when you are sick, and especially when they involve uncertainties like yours. Please take care of yourself. Somehow what needs to be done will be done even if you can't do it. Hang in there!

Hey folks,

Thanks for all the hugs and support. THey are so appreciated. We ended up getting the house at the 11th hour and I am now sitting here, amongst what seems to be 10,l00 boxes, grateful for a roof over my head and an internet connection!!

We are all adjusting to a new town, in a new state. I am still having a tough time finding an LLMD in MA, so am probably going to go to another wholistic practioner who has an MD and believes in chronic lyme.

I am trying not to follow my impulses to empty boxes all day long (I hate not knowing where anything is ...that's the problem when packers pack for you) and am trying to rest whenever I can. The kids will start camp in a few weeks and I will actually have a three week window where I will have four hours a day to myself!!!!

Thanks again for your caring replies.

Wishing stamina, pain relief and laughter to all,
Blimey

Thanks for your update, Blimey! I'd been worrying about what might be happening to you. So happy that the house deal worked out. And I'm glad you'll have help with your LD while you're waiting for an appointment with one of the LLMDs.

Take care of yourself -- the boxes won't unpack themselves, but they don't need to be dealt with all at once! :)

Thanks, Sonsie.

I am slowly unpacking, it is more exhausting than I thought it would be. I am also bruised beyond belief, because it is like a maze in here, and I keep bumping into everything. I think my balance is off a bit also. The hardest part is not knowing where things are...I thought the movers would provide an inventory list of what they packed, but I was wrong.

The heat is getting to me as well, and the house has no air conditioning. We are going to try to buy a room unit this weekend.

Hope everyone is having a good start to the summer.

Hi blimey. Really do pace yourself, especially since you do not have air conditioning. Just get out the things you need right now and let the rest wait.

Blimey, the hardest thing I have to cope with is burning my energy up. On days when I absolutely have to be physically active.....I can count on at least 3 days of being velcroed to my recliner, can't even make it up the stairs to "my" bathroom!

And I'm always amazed that women can still be walking if they have children to look after! I truly don't know how you do it!

I suggest if you can't find something you need-go out & buy another item! And get that AC right away. The heat will sap what strength you have. I force myself to sit down here & type or call my folks-anything to get me to sit still & take a break! When I've got projects going on I tend to reve up my battery & wear it out! Next day I can hardly walk.Vicious cycle! Consider hiring someone to help with the unpacking.....call the movers, they hire people to pack so makes sense they have people to unpack? Preferably a female as she would be less likely to break the china, etc. (if that sounds sexist so be it). Check out the local paper for students needing work. Local bulletin boards @ stores, etc.

Summer will be over before you know it & you'll be a frazzled out wreck by time school starts if you try to do this all by yourself! Get some epsom salts & have a good soak everyday if possible. If you've never tried this,be cautious, make sure you are not alone, you can get weak from the soak! The salt seems to drive the little buggies nuts......:D

Good luck,Buttons

Hi good people,

Well, the house is just about unpacked. I'm pooped!! There are 10 or so boxes left, and I'M DONE ... there's also a lot of stuff just all over the place, but it's much preferable to me to have the mess vs. the maze of boxes.

I have a problem and wonder if anyone knows of a solution. With all my DXs over the years, one in particular was multiple chemical sensitivities. I have become highly allergic to almost all fragrances, paints, residues, molds, etc. I take high levels of B12 and folic acid, which helps some, but not enough currently.

I'm in a flare because my 90 year old house has beautiful wood floors that the previous owner refinished/stained before selling the house. The residual smell is making me ill ... nauseau, headaches and more fatigue. I've been trying to air our the house as much as possible, and the smell has diminished, but not enough. Anyone have any ideas?

I've tried holding my breath ... but, well, you can imagine how difficult that can get at times! ;)

Yours in fumes,
B~

multiple chemical sensitivities
Oh dear! I'm so sorry this happened to you. :( You must be ready to head for the hills. I have made a mental note (as though that would do me much good) to be sure that if I buy something, I have a clause that will prevent the seller from doing this.

Can you look for an online chemical sensitivities board? Or maybe there is a web site somewhere, and someone will post the URL for you.

I have had smaller versions of this problem, but they were readily solved. About 15 years ago I bought an end table from a craft fair. When I got it home, it smelled horribly. It was summer, and I simply lieft it outside for a few weeks until it stopped smelling. The second time was last year. I bought a pair of leather shoes online. They were on sale, and I am always looking to save a few dollars, of course, so I rarely buy anything that isn't marked down. They smelled horrible, from glue I guess. I put them in the garage. But they still have an odor, and thus I still haven't brought them into the house. I'm thinking in another year, they'll be OK. :D

I sure wish you could just take the roof off your house, and let it air out quickly!

Oh, taking off the roof and airing the whole house out for a while would be great. Since I haven't got a can opener that big, I'll take your advice and do some internet searching. I saw that there was a MCS group here, but it's been inactive for a while.
