Hi All,
I was wondering if anyone out there has had the experience of Baclofen making you hungry. I was on Baclofen for spasticity, and I gained 5 pounds. I went off of it for awhile, and went back on, and once again it seems to be making me hungry all the time. WEight gain/hunger isn't listed as a side effect, but I was wondering if anyone had any anecdotal experiences with Baclofen making you hungry.
Thanks,
Speeney
Hi Speeny,
I dont usually post here but was just wandering through and saw your post.
I have been on Baclofen now for quite a number of years and I cant say that it does give me the munchies.
I do crave for chocolate though. :p Have always been a chocoholic.
I have gained weight over the many years that I have been ill, something in the area of approx 20kilos. I am not sure what that is in pounds. But my weight gain is from a combination of illness'es and the fact that I cannot exercise. I DO eat a healthy diet. Hubby makes sure of that. He's my Carer.
Sorry I cant be of any better help to you.
Take Care

Hmmm....know a lot of people on baclofen--even myself and my kido in the past--never heard of the munchies...but that does not make it impossible.

I to have not posted here in a long time but was wondering through here and had another question about another drug and saw this thread. I wanted to share my info on baclofen. i was on it for about 8 mos to a year and I gained alot. probably 40 lbs. I hated it. I am off of it now and back on zanaflex, and I love it. I know that weight gain is not one of the side affects listed but if I remeber correctly when I asked my dr about it he did a extensive check and found that it is possible to cause weight gain. good luck and talk to your dr about it. let me know what you find out.

I have been taking baclofen for a couple weeks and have found myself to be very very hungry lately.I also went through this when i was only mirtazapin and had gained alot there too so i know this medication is doing the same too. So it is a side effect but a small percentage of people get it.

That's really funny, I started a very low dose of baclofen a couple of weeks ago and just noticed this week, that I had the munchies a couple of times. Never thought of the baclofen, huh. I already have enough problem with weight gain because of the depakote

Yes, I'm glad you mentioned it. Now I know the exact reason for my uncontrollable eating. I was scripted baclofen 3 months ago for #180 the first month with my pain mgmt DR.. I'm not a breakfast eater but I started eating 2 ham sandwiches slathered in dukes (yellow and gold(of course)) with double ham and double cheese 1st thing in the a.m.. So yes I would say definetely causes uncontrollable hunger for me.
