Hi all. I have a brother with both epilepsy & Chiari ( and probably EDS .... which often goes along w/ chiari)
Anyway, my brother typically has tonic clonic seizures ( grand mals).
A couple of weeks ago he was playing baseball and while sliding into a base, slid into another person. He said he felt his entire right side shift upward and was afraid he caused some significant injury.
Later that night he had some right side paralysis. They went to the ER and was admitted.
He had tons of test ( except for the one they really should have done ... an EEG)
The MRI only showed chiari. Since then he has the rt side paralysis off and on.
They think he is now having partial seizures. He goes for a 3 day EEG this week.
I am wondering if the injury did something to the chiari malformation. Squished it or something and triggered these focal seizures. Of course the doctors said the chiari was insignificant and had nothing to do with anything.
Was just an incidental find.
Any thoughts?
