Deb,

The trigger point injections can help as well as the Relafen AND the Cymbalta. I started cutting down on my caffeine this week. My only vice is diet coke and it just isn't good for me. I'm also trying to lose a little weight.

At least give the meds a try. Lidoderm patches are good for nerve pain. It doesn't help that deep aching pain though.

You've been through so much girlfriend. I hope you can get some relief soon.

I hope the plan you and the PM doctor came up with will help reduce your pain.

The patches are pretty good for muscle pain and nerve pain (I used one on the spot on my booty where the sciatic nerve was really acting up - and it helped tremendously).

I don't know what relafen is...

Are you having more pain since you stopped the cymbalta? If so - why not take it?

Deb,

I just wanted to say I heard the same things...stop the smoking and stop the caffeine. I HAVE cut way, way back on the caffeine and started drinking lots of water a long time ago. Drinking a lot of water does help, especially with the bowel and bladder issues. I don't usually count the bottle waters I do drink but I would have to say at least 6 or 8 a day. Anyway, if I have any caffeine it is usually diluted or I might have a glass of tea..decaf at that. That's it.

Smoking is another matter. It is tough to give them up and I haven't yet. But I definitely need to. I know, I keep saying this over and over again and I just need to start taking it. I hate to say this because it is so untrue...but it is my stress reliever. Or so I think. Actually, it's not...it is really making matters worse. It just FEELS like it is helping when under stress.

Anyway, Lea is right about the patches. They do help take the edge off but not really effective for the deep pain. At least that is what I have noticed. And I don't know anything about the other meds other than I couldn't take Cymbalta...it just made me too darn dizzy. But I know it helps a lot of people.

You have been through a lot and I hope you can get some relief!
